# pack-submit

Turns one of your own skills into a standalone community pack and opens a PR against the aeon registry. Useful when you want other agents to install your work.

## What it does

The skill takes an existing skill directory under `skills/<slug>/` and wraps it into a community pack: its own GitHub repo holding a `skills-pack.json` manifest, a README and an MIT license. It then opens a PR against `aeonfun/aeon` that adds the pack in two places at once — a row in the Listed packs table in `docs/community-skill-packs.md` and an entry in `catalog/skill-packs.json`. Think of it as the reverse of `install-skill`: instead of pulling a pack in, it pushes yours out.

You start it with a slug, for example `token-movers`. Flags change the behaviour: `--repo owner/name` overrides the pack repo name, `--no-register` skips the registry PR, and `--dry-run` builds and validates the pack locally without writing anything to GitHub. Manifest fields come from the source `SKILL.md` frontmatter — title, description, category, secrets and capabilities — so nothing is invented along the way.

Before anything is pushed, the staged directory goes through `./scripts/validate-pack.sh`. A failing validator stops the run, and an invalid pack never reaches GitHub. The skill needs `GH_GLOBAL`; without it there is no way to create the repo or open the PR.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aeonfun/aeon --skill pack-submit -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/pack-submit/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/pack-submit/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aeonfun/aeon --skill pack-submit -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/pack-submit/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aeonfun/aeon --skill pack-submit -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/pack-submit/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aeonfun/aeon pack-submit
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/pack-submit/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aeonfun/aeon --skill pack-submit -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aeonfun/aeon --path skills/pack-submit
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/pack-submit/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aeonfun/aeon --skill pack-submit -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/aeonfun/aeon/tree/HEAD/skills/pack-submit/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- package a skill into its own public repo
- build a `skills-pack.json` manifest from skill frontmatter
- validate a pack locally before publishing
- open a registry PR with both catalog and table entries
- publish a skill without copying files by hand

## Example prompts
- Package `token-movers` as a community pack and submit it to the aeon registry
- Build the pack for `token-movers` under `myorg/aeon-token-movers`
- Run `token-movers --dry-run` to validate the pack without writing to GitHub

> **${var}** — The local skill to publish as a community pack: a skill **slug** (a directory name under `skills/`), optionally followed by flags. **Required.**
> Examples:
> - `token-movers` — package `skills/token-movers/` into a fresh public repo and submit it to the aeon registry
> - `token-movers --repo myorg/aeon-token-movers` — override the pack repo name (default `aeon-skill-pack-<slug>`)
> - `token-movers --no-register` — create and push the pack repo, but skip the registry PR against `aeonfun/aeon`
> - `token-movers --dry-run` — build and validate the pack locally, write nothing to GitHub

If `${var}` is empty, exit `PACK_SUBMIT_NO_VAR`:
```bash
./notify "pack-submit aborted: var empty — pass a skill slug e.g. \"token-movers\""
```
Then stop.

Today is ${today}. Your task is to take the **existing** skill named in `${var}`, wrap it in a standalone community-pack repo (its own GitHub repo with a `skills-pack.json` manifest), and **submit it to the aeon community registry** - a PR against `aeonfun/aeon` that adds both surfaces the registry demands in one diff: a row in the **Listed packs** table in `docs/community-skill-packs.md` AND a matching entry in `catalog/skill-packs.json`. This is the inverse of `install-skill`: instead of pulling a community pack in, it pushes one of your own skills out for every other Aeon agent to install with `bin/install-skill-pack`.

## What a community pack is (so you build the right thing)

A community pack is a **public GitHub repo** that holds one or more skills plus a `skills-pack.json` manifest that names and versions them. `bin/install-skill-pack owner/repo` reads that manifest and installs the skills. To be **discoverable** (listed by `bin/install-skill-pack --list` and the dashboard's Community Packs panel), the pack must also be registered in `aeonfun/aeon`'s `catalog/skill-packs.json` + the Listed packs table in `docs/community-skill-packs.md`. So publishing is two moves: **(a)** stand up the pack repo, **(b)** open the registry PR. This skill does both. Full protocol: `docs/community-skill-packs.md`.
