## What it does

The skill turns the agent into an auditor: it maps your application, walks the ten risk categories and ranks what to fix first. The procedure has three steps. System inventory and threat modeling come first, then a check of each category, then risk scoring by likelihood and impact.

The list covers prompt injection, sensitive information disclosure, supply chain, data and model poisoning, improper output handling, excessive agency, system prompt leakage, vector and embedding weaknesses, misinformation and unbounded consumption. Per-vulnerability descriptions, attack scenarios, detection checks and mitigations live in `references/llm-vulnerabilities.md`, and you only read the entries that match the architecture in front of you.

Active testing needs explicit authorization: the skill asks for the environment and the boundaries of the engagement. Without that it stays on documentation and architecture review with hypothetical examples. On production it prefers staging or read-only validation, and it skips denial-of-service, destructive and real-exfiltration tests unless written scope allows them. Cross the approved scope and it stops and reports.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mastepanoski/claude-skills --skill owasp-llm-top10 -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/owasp-llm-top10/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/owasp-llm-top10/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mastepanoski/claude-skills --skill owasp-llm-top10 -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/owasp-llm-top10/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mastepanoski/claude-skills --skill owasp-llm-top10 -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/owasp-llm-top10/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mastepanoski/claude-skills owasp-llm-top10
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/owasp-llm-top10/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mastepanoski/claude-skills --skill owasp-llm-top10 -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mastepanoski/claude-skills --path skills/owasp-llm-top10
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/owasp-llm-top10/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mastepanoski/claude-skills --skill owasp-llm-top10 -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mastepanoski/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/owasp-llm-top10/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- check an LLM app for vulnerabilities before release
- assess a RAG system for injection through external data
- review agent permissions for excessive agency
- prepare for a security compliance review of an AI feature
- investigate an incident involving system prompt leakage

## Example prompts
- run a security audit of my chatbot against the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications
- assess my RAG system: which of LLM01–LLM10 apply here
- review the agent architecture from docs only, no active tests

# OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications Security Audit

This skill enables AI agents to perform a comprehensive **security assessment** of Large Language Model (LLM) and Generative AI applications using the **OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications 2025**, published by the OWASP GenAI Security Project.

The OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications identifies the most critical security risks in systems that integrate large language models, covering vulnerabilities from prompt injection to unbounded resource consumption. This is the authoritative industry standard for LLM application security.

Use this skill to identify security vulnerabilities, assess risk exposure, prioritize remediation, and establish secure development practices for AI-powered applications.

Combine with "NIST AI RMF" for comprehensive risk management or "ISO 42001 AI Governance" for governance compliance.

## When to Use This Skill

Invoke this skill when:
- Auditing security of LLM-powered applications before deployment
- Reviewing GenAI integrations for security vulnerabilities
- Assessing RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems
- Evaluating chatbot or AI assistant security
- Conducting penetration testing of AI features
- Building secure AI application architectures
- Reviewing third-party AI API integrations
- Preparing for security compliance reviews
- Responding to AI-related security incidents

## Inputs Required

When executing this audit, gather:

- **application_description**: Description of the AI application (purpose, LLM used, architecture, features, user base) [REQUIRED]
- **architecture_details**: System architecture (APIs, databases, vector stores, plugins, integrations) [OPTIONAL but recommended]
- **llm_provider**: LLM provider and model (OpenAI GPT-4, Anthropic Claude, self-hosted, etc.) [OPTIONAL]
- **deployment_context**: Deployment environment (cloud, on-premise, hybrid, edge) [OPTIONAL]
- **data_sensitivity**: Types of data processed (PII, financial, health, proprietary) [OPTIONAL]
- **existing_controls**: Current security measures (auth, rate limiting, content filtering) [OPTIONAL]
- **specific_concerns**: Known vulnerabilities or areas of focus [OPTIONAL]
```
