## What it does

The skill splits LangGraph work into 41 rules across 12 categories, each in its own file under `rules/`, so the agent loads only what the task needs. Covered: state schemas (`TypedDict`, `Pydantic`, `MessagesState`, custom reducers), routing and branching, fan-out/fan-in parallelism, the supervisor-worker pattern, tool binding with `ToolNode`, checkpoints and cross-thread `Store` memory, human-in-loop with `interrupt`/`resume`, v2 streaming, subgraphs, and the functional API with `@entrypoint`/`@task`.

A separate block handles fault tolerance from LangGraph 1.2. A node can take `timeout=TimeoutPolicy(run_timeout=, idle_timeout=)`, an `error_handler=` that receives a `NodeError` parameter, and a cooperative shutdown via `RunControl().request_drain()`. Timeouts ride on asyncio cancellation, so a node blocking the GIL will not be interrupted — worth checking if you have synchronous calls in nodes that are supposed to respect the limit. `DeltaChannel` is marked beta.

The skill targets the Python package `langgraph` at `>=1.2.0` and was tested against 1.2.12. The JavaScript package `@langchain/langgraph` runs on its own line and is not covered here, so TypeScript projects get nothing from these rules. The skill's tool access is read-only: `Read`, `Glob`, `Grep`, `WebFetch`, `WebSearch`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill langgraph -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/langgraph/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/langgraph/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill langgraph -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/langgraph/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill langgraph -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/langgraph/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yonatangross/orchestkit langgraph
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/langgraph/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill langgraph -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yonatangross/orchestkit --path src/skills/langgraph
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/langgraph/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yonatangross/orchestkit --skill langgraph -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- design graph state so data survives between nodes
- cap a node with a wall-clock limit and a separate idle limit
- register a recovery node once retries are exhausted
- stop a run at a checkpoint instead of a half-applied superstep
- wire several agents through a supervisor with priority dispatch

## Example prompts
- Help me design state for a LangGraph graph that accumulates messages
- Add a timeout and an error handler to the external API node
- Build a supervisor-worker setup with three agents and routing

# LangGraph Workflow Patterns

Comprehensive patterns for building production LangGraph workflows. **LangGraph 1.x is LTS** (Long Term Support) — the first stable major release, powering agents at Uber, LinkedIn, and Klarna. Each category has individual rule files in `rules/` loaded on-demand.

> **LangGraph 1.2 (shipped 2026-05-12) — the fault-tolerance release.** Everything below is on
> `StateGraph.add_node(...)` unless noted:

> - **Per-node timeouts** — `timeout=` accepts `float | timedelta | TimeoutPolicy`.
>   `TimeoutPolicy(run_timeout=, idle_timeout=, refresh_on="auto"|"heartbeat")` separates a hard
> wall-clock cap from an idle cap that progress refreshes. On expiry LangGraph raises
>   `NodeTimeoutError` (carrying `kind="idle"|"run"` and `elapsed`), drops that attempt's writes, and
> defers to the retry policy. Cooperative: it rides asyncio cancellation, so a node blocking the
> GIL is *not* interrupted. See `rules/resilience-node-timeouts.md`.
> - **Node error handlers** — `error_handler=` registers a recovery node that runs once the retry
> budget is exhausted. It receives failure context by declaring a parameter typed `NodeError`
