# opus-clip

A skill for Claude, Claude and Cursor that runs an OpusClip clipping pipeline: find candidate moments in podcasts and webinars, rank them, count credits, ship in batches.

## What it does

The skill lays out a workflow around OpusClip following the CLIPS framework: choose the source, let the AI find candidates, inspect and rank honestly, polish the top few, ship on a drip. ClipAnything is multimodal — it reads visuals, audio sentiment and facial expressions — so it surfaces moments even in wordless footage. Natural-language moment search pulls a single moment out of a two-hour VOD without scrubbing.

What you need to know before you start: the Virality Score is triage, not truth. An independent test found roughly 40% of generated clips get discarded, and the score regularly mispredicts — low scorers blow up, high scorers flop. The skill therefore refuses to treat the score as an auto-post threshold. The billing mechanic catches people too: 1 credit equals 1 minute of source video no matter how many clips come out, so trim before you upload.

The agent plans the pipeline, does the credit math and runs QA, but a human reviews every clip against three questions: does it stand alone, does it represent the speaker fairly, does it serve the audience. WoopSocial publishes the finished exports — it does not clip or edit video. Read `captions-and-clipping`, the source skill and `brand-profile` first.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill opus-clip -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/opus-clip/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/opus-clip/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill opus-clip -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/opus-clip/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill opus-clip -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/opus-clip/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills opus-clip
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/opus-clip/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill opus-clip -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/opus-clip
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/opus-clip/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill opus-clip -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/opus-clip/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- cut a podcast or webinar into short clips
- pull one moment from a two-hour recording without scrubbing
- work out OpusClip credit cost before uploading a source
- rank candidates and decide which few are worth editing
- schedule a batch of clips across the week

## Example prompts
- Break this two-hour podcast recording into shorts with opus-clip
- Work out the OpusClip credit cost for this webinar before I upload it
- Find the moment in this recording where the guest talks about hiring, using ClipAnything

  The OpusClip craft skill — turn long video (podcasts, webinars, interviews, streams) into publishable
  short clips with AI candidate-finding, honest triage, and a human-reviewed pipeline. Use when someone
  wants to use OpusClip, turn a podcast/webinar/VOD into shorts, understand the Virality Score, pick a
  plan, pull a moment from a long recording (ClipAnything moment search), or automate a clipping
  pipeline. Uses the CLIPS framework. Reads captions-and-clipping + the source skill + brand-profile
  first. The agent plans the pipeline, credit math, and QA; the HUMAN reviews every clip and approves;
  WoopSocial publishes the finished exports (it does not clip or edit video). Integrity spine: the
  Virality Score is a PREDICTION for triage, never truth; 1 credit = 1 SOURCE minute; no unreviewed
  auto-post pipelines; no out-of-context clips. Distinct from captions-and-clipping (general craft),
  descript (long-form edit), capcut (short-form polish), and the platform publishing skills.

# opus-clip

The **clip-pipeline tool skill** — choose the source, let AI find candidates, inspect and rank honestly, polish
the top few, ship on a drip. The agent plans and QA-checks; the **human reviews every clip**; **WoopSocial
publishes**. (Ships with `tools/integrations/opus-clip.md`; pairs with the `captions-and-clipping` craft skill.)

## The POV: a first-pass clip finder, not a one-click viral machine
OpusClip genuinely compresses 3–5 hours of manual clipping into minutes of processing plus review — its
**ClipAnything** engine is multimodal (visuals + audio sentiment + facial expressions), so it finds moments even
in wordless content, and natural-language moment search pulls one moment from a 2-hour VOD without scrubbing. But
the top-1% operator holds two facts the marketing won't volunteer. **(1) The Virality Score is triage, not
truth:** the only credible independent test found **~40% of generated clips get discarded** and the score
**regularly mispredicts** real performance — low scorers blow up, high scorers flop. Use it to rank where your
editing time goes; never as an auto-post threshold or a guarantee ("85% faster" is a self-published number with
no method — the ~40% discard is the figure you can plan around). **(2) The human gate is non-negotiable:** every
clip passes three questions — does it stand alone, does it **represent the speaker fairly** (the interview
