# openmaic-classroom

A skill that generates interactive lessons: slides, quizzes, simulations and project work come out of a multi-agent pipeline. Useful when you need a course from a topic or document.

## What it does

The skill sets up OpenMAIC, a Next.js 16, React 19 and TypeScript platform where a lesson is built in two stages. First the AI reads a topic or document and produces a structured outline, then each item expands into a scene of one type: `slides` with narration and a laser pointer, `quiz` with AI grading, `interactive` with an HTML simulation, or `pbl` where learners pick a role and work with agents. LangGraph 1.1 handles orchestration.

You need Node.js 20 or newer, pnpm 10, and at least one LLM provider key in `.env.local` — OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. Providers can also go into `server-providers.yml`, which accepts any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Separate MinerU variables cover PDFs with tables and formulas. Start with `pnpm dev` or `docker compose up --build`; both serve the app on port 3000.

Generation is asynchronous: a job goes to `POST /api/generate`, then you poll `GET /api/generate/status?jobId=<jobId>` until it returns a classroom link. Finished lessons export to PPTX or HTML. Scenes are typed React components, so a new type means editing `types/scene.ts` and adding a component. No key means the pipeline never starts — check that first.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openmaic-classroom -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/openmaic-classroom/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/openmaic-classroom/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openmaic-classroom -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/openmaic-classroom/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openmaic-classroom -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/openmaic-classroom/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install reason-machines/trending-skills openmaic-classroom
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/openmaic-classroom/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openmaic-classroom -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills --path skills/openmaic-classroom
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/openmaic-classroom/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openmaic-classroom -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/openmaic-classroom/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn an uploaded document into an interactive lesson
- generate narrated slides for a given topic
- add a quiz with automatic grading
- build an HTML simulation to explain a process
- assign roles and run a project-based session with agents

## Example prompts
- set up OpenMAIC and run it locally
- generate a lesson on quantum entanglement
- add a quiz scene to the finished classroom
