## What it does

This skill guides developers through implementing OpenAI Symphony, an execution model that delegates tickets to autonomous agent sessions. Rather than watching an AI code line by line, engineers define issues in Linear. Symphony spins up a fresh Git branch, runs a coding agent, and submits a pull request accompanied by CI verification and review data.

The skill covers two integration paths: generating code directly from the Symphony specification markdown or using the Elixir reference service. Running the Elixir supervisor requires Elixir with Mix, along with `OPENAI_API_KEY`, `GITHUB_TOKEN`, and `LINEAR_API_KEY`. Without these credentials and a configured repository path, the runner cannot pick up tasks or open pull requests.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openai-symphony-autonomous-agents -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openai-symphony-autonomous-agents -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openai-symphony-autonomous-agents -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install reason-machines/trending-skills openai-symphony-autonomous-agents
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openai-symphony-autonomous-agents -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills --path skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill openai-symphony-autonomous-agents -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/openai-symphony-autonomous-agents/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- set up isolated execution runs for coding agents
- poll tasks from Linear boards automatically
- isolate task implementations into separate Git branches
- automate pull request creation with CI proof of work

## Example prompts
- Implement Symphony in my project using the official specification
- Set up the Elixir reference implementation of Symphony with Linear
- Configure isolated agent runs to turn repository issues into pull requests
