# offsite-signal-analyzer

Profiles a domain's off-site signals: referring domains, anchor mix, toxic links — or sessions arriving from Claude and Perplexity answers.

## What it does

The skill runs in two modes, and you pick one before it starts. `backlinks` (the default) takes a link-database export or a pasted CSV and shows who links to the domain, how the anchors are distributed, what share of links looks toxic, and which ones belong in a disavow file. `ai-referrals` goes elsewhere: you hand over a GA4 export, Search Console data, or server logs, and the skill isolates sessions that came from AI-assistant answers, then compares their conversion against organic traffic over the same window.

The two datasets never get blended into a single number — each mode reports under its own heading. Joining them into a CITE score is the job of `domain-authority-auditor`, not this skill. There is a keyless connector script for reading unlinked mentions, but the path in the source breaks off at `python3` and `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}` — check that the interpreter and the environment variable exist, or that step will not run.

Integrations are optional and keyless on your own data. Any fetched or pasted log, referrer, or backlink snippet is treated as untrusted input, and instructions inside it are not executed. When it finishes, the skill writes a monitoring deliverable plus a handoff summary under `memory/monitoring/`, and pushes notable changes and newly appearing AI sources to `memory/open-loops.md` with status `pending-decision`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill offsite-signal-analyzer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/offsite-signal-analyzer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/offsite-signal-analyzer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill offsite-signal-analyzer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/offsite-signal-analyzer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill offsite-signal-analyzer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/offsite-signal-analyzer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills offsite-signal-analyzer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/offsite-signal-analyzer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill offsite-signal-analyzer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path seo-geo/evaluate/offsite-signal-analyzer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/offsite-signal-analyzer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill offsite-signal-analyzer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- break down a referring-domain profile and spot weak spots
- compute the toxic-link share and collect disavow candidates
- compare a link profile against competitors and find gaps
- isolate Claude and Perplexity referral sessions in a GA4 export
- compare AI referral conversion with organic over the same window

## Example prompts
- Analyze the backlink profile for example.com
- Find link-building opportunities across competitor1.com and competitor2.com
- Track AI referral traffic for example.com over the last 90 days
