## What it does

This skill guides AI agents toward standard Nuxt 3 and Vue 3 patterns, enforcing `<script setup>` and strictly avoiding the Options API. It covers project layout across `pages/`, `composables/`, and Nitro server endpoints in `server/api/`, relying on `useRuntimeConfig()` for environment variables and `useFetch` for data loading.

For TypeScript, the rules deprecate enums in favor of const objects. Aliases created via `type` take priority over `interface`, reserving interfaces specifically for contracts intended to be extended. UI elements use Shadcn Vue and Radix Vue styled with mobile-first Tailwind utilities.

Heavy or rarely used UI components require dynamic `import()` calls to prevent bundle bloat tracked via `nuxi analyze`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Mindrally/skills --skill nuxtjs-vue-typescript -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/nuxtjs-vue-typescript/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/nuxtjs-vue-typescript/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Mindrally/skills --skill nuxtjs-vue-typescript -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/nuxtjs-vue-typescript/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Mindrally/skills --skill nuxtjs-vue-typescript -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/nuxtjs-vue-typescript/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Mindrally/skills nuxtjs-vue-typescript
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/nuxtjs-vue-typescript/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Mindrally/skills --skill nuxtjs-vue-typescript -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Mindrally/skills --path nuxtjs-vue-typescript
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/nuxtjs-vue-typescript/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Mindrally/skills --skill nuxtjs-vue-typescript -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- Enforce Composition API patterns with script setup syntax
- Structure Nitro API routes using useRuntimeConfig
- Extract component logic into reusable camelCase composables
- Standardize typing by replacing enums with const objects

## Example prompts
- Create a Nitro endpoint in `server/api/` that reads runtime configuration
- Refactor this component state into a dedicated composable named `useAuthState.ts`
- Build an accessible modal component using Radix Vue and Tailwind utility classes

# NuxtJS Vue TypeScript Development

Guidelines for building Nuxt 3 and Vue 3 applications with TypeScript, Shadcn Vue, Radix Vue, VueUse, and Tailwind.

## Code Style and Structure

- Write concise, technical TypeScript with accurate examples
- Employ composition API with declarative patterns; avoid options API
- Favor iteration and modularity over code duplication
- Use descriptive variable names with auxiliary verbs (isLoading, hasError)
- Organize files: exported component, composables, helpers, static content, types
- Keep component boundaries clear — a component should own one piece of UI/behavior; extract composables when logic grows beyond simple template glue

## Naming Conventions

- Directories: lowercase with dashes (components/auth-wizard)
- Components: PascalCase (AuthWizard.vue)
- Composables: camelCase (useAuthState.ts)

## TypeScript Usage

- Utilize TypeScript throughout; prefer types over interfaces, but use interfaces where you expect a shape to be extended or implemented (e.g. component prop contracts)
- Keep shared types close to the feature that owns them; only promote a type to a shared `types/` directory once a second feature needs it
- Avoid enums; use const objects instead
- Leverage Vue 3 with TypeScript, defineComponent, and PropType

## Syntax and Formatting

- Use arrow functions for methods and computed properties
- Minimize curly braces in conditionals
- Employ template syntax for declarative rendering

## UI and Styling

- Implement Shadcn Vue, Radix Vue, and Tailwind
- Design responsively with mobile-first Tailwind approach
- Keep Tailwind usage accessible and consistent with the project's design system rather than one-off utility soup

## Performance

- Leverage Nuxt's built-in optimizations
- Use Suspense for async components
- Implement lazy loading for routes and components
- Optimize images: WebP format, size data, lazy loading
- Review bundle size periodically (`nuxi analyze`) and use dynamic `import()` for heavy, rarely-used components

## Key Conventions

- VueUse for common composables — reach for them where they simplify reactivity, but avoid ones that hide state transitions you need to reason about explicitly
- Pinia for state management
- Optimize Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID)
- Use Nuxt's auto-imports feature

## Nuxt-Specific Guidelines

- Follow Nuxt 3 directory structure (pages/, components/, composables/, layouts/, plugins/, server/)
- Leverage auto-imports, file-based routing, server routes, plugins
