## What it does

The skill wires Nuxt UI v4.6+ into your agent for Nuxt v4.0.0 projects. That means 125+ accessible components built on Tailwind CSS v4 and Reka UI, with dark mode and theming. Reference files cover the categories: 10 dashboard components, 8 chat components on AI SDK v5, 6 editor components on TipTap, 16 page layout components. It also ships the official Nuxt UI MCP server for live component data.

Nuxt is not the only target. Plain Vue apps on Vite, Inertia and SSR work through the Vite plugin. React, Nuxt 3 and Tailwind CSS v3 are out of scope, so on those stacks the skill won't help. You can scaffold from a template instead of wiring things by hand: `npm create nuxt@latest -- -t ui/dashboard`, or `-t ui/chat`, `-t ui/landing`, `-t ui/saas`.

The README has a secure installation section. UI packages touch your CSS and component tree, so the author advises blocking post-install scripts with `npm config set ignore-scripts true`, waiting 7 days before adopting a new version, and scoring packages with `socket package score npm <pkg>`. For the full setup — Socket CLI, cooldown, lockfile validation, CI enforcement — load the `dependency-upgrade` skill.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-ui-v4 -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/nuxt-ui-v4/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/nuxt-ui-v4/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-ui-v4 -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/nuxt-ui-v4/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-ui-v4 -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/nuxt-ui-v4/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/claude-skills nuxt-ui-v4
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/nuxt-ui-v4/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-ui-v4 -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills --path plugins/nuxt-ui-v4/skills/nuxt-ui-v4
- File: `.devin/skills/nuxt-ui-v4/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
### OpenCode
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-ui-v4 -a opencode
```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills
## When to use it
- build an admin panel with a resizable sidebar and content panel
- add an AI chat with streaming, reasoning blocks and tool calls
- wire a TipTap rich text editor with toolbar and mention menu
- lay out a landing page with a hero section and content grid
- fix a theming or TypeScript error in Nuxt UI components
## Example prompts
- set up Nuxt UI v4 and build a dashboard with a sidebar and navbar
- create a chat page with UChatMessages and UChatPrompt using AI SDK v5
UI packages modify CSS and component trees — verify before allowing into your project. Follow supply chain security best practices:
- **Block post-install scripts** — `npm config set ignore-scripts true` (or Bun: disabled by default)
