## What it does

The skill covers the core of Nuxt 4: project setup, `nuxt.config.ts`, file-based routing, middleware, SEO with `useHead` and `useSeoMeta`, plus `error.vue` and `NuxtErrorBoundary`. It ships reference files on configuration, advanced routing and plugin architecture, and the agent pulls them in when the task calls for it.

The big v4 change is that `app/` is now the default `srcDir`. App code lives in `app/`, server code stays in `server/`. Your agent follows that layout instead of the old one. There is also a version table: `nuxt` 4.0.0 and up, `vue` 3.5.0, `nitro` 2.10.0, `vite` 6.0.0, `typescript` 5.0.0.

One section deals with install safety. `bunx nuxi init` downloads and runs remote code, so the skill tells you to block post-install scripts, wait 7 days before pulling a new package version and score it with Socket. On a Nuxt 3 codebase, watch out: the `app/` rules and the `useRuntimeConfig` advice are written for v4, and the agent will not bend them back to v3.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-core -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/nuxt-core/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/nuxt-core/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-core -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/nuxt-core/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-core -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/nuxt-core/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/claude-skills nuxt-core
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/nuxt-core/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-core -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills --path plugins/nuxt-v4/skills/nuxt-core
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/nuxt-core/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-core -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- scaffold a new Nuxt 4 project with the right directory layout
- set up `nuxt.config.ts` with modules and runtime config
- build file-based routing with dynamic and catch-all routes
- add SEO meta tags through `useHead` and `useSeoMeta`
- handle page errors with `error.vue` and `NuxtErrorBoundary`

## Example prompts
- Scaffold a new Nuxt 4 project and show me the directory structure
- Set up runtime config in nuxt.config.ts: apiSecret server-only, apiBase public
- Add a blog page with a dynamic route and meta tags via useSeoMeta

## Secure Installation

Scaffolding tools like `bunx nuxi init` download and execute remote code. Before running, follow supply chain security best practices:

- **Block post-install scripts** — `npm config set ignore-scripts true` (or Bun: disabled by default)
- **Cooldown period** — Wait 7 days for new package versions to be vetted by the community
- **Audit before installing** — Run `socket package score npm <pkg>` or use `socket npm install <pkg>` to check packages

Load the `dependency-upgrade` skill for full security configuration including Socket CLI integration, cooldown setup, lockfile validation, and CI enforcement.
