## What it does

This skill turns Notion project evidence into a weekly update. It compares the current period with a previous digest or dated snapshot, explains meaningful changes, and separates completed work from plans and repeated activity. Open blockers carry forward as ongoing items rather than being reported as new.

The workflow sets the project, period, audience, and delivery destination, then fetches source pages, follows related records, checks database schemas, paginates results, and verifies a saved digest. Claims stay close to their supporting records. When no history exists, the skill produces a clearly labelled first snapshot and calls out coverage gaps.

It is available for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode. Creating a digest does not authorize task edits or messages. A current Done status proves the item is marked complete now, while an edit timestamp alone does not prove progress or a status change during the reporting period.

## Requirements
- Works with: Notion

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill weekly-project-digest -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/weekly-project-digest/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/weekly-project-digest/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill weekly-project-digest -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/weekly-project-digest/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill weekly-project-digest -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/weekly-project-digest/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install makenotion/notion-cookbook weekly-project-digest
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/weekly-project-digest/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill weekly-project-digest -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/makenotion/notion-cookbook --path skills/mcp-clients/weekly-project-digest
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/weekly-project-digest/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill weekly-project-digest -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/makenotion/notion-cookbook/tree/HEAD/skills/mcp-clients/weekly-project-digest/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- assemble a weekly project update from Notion
- compare the current period with a previous digest
- separate completed work from planned work
- carry unresolved blockers into the new report
- trace decisions and next steps to supporting records

## Example prompts
- Create a weekly digest for this project from Notion and compare the current reporting period with the previous update.
- Review the team’s tasks, decisions, and blockers, then separate completed work from plans and link each material claim to its source.
- Save the digest to the established project updates destination, check for an existing record for this period, and leave tasks unchanged.

# Weekly project digest

Explain what changed during the reporting period, why it matters, and what needs
attention. Separate observed progress from plans and repeated activity.

## Workflow

1. **Set scope and period.** Use the named project or team, audience, reporting
   period, and delivery destination. Resolve a timezone or date boundary when it
   changes inclusion. Use the established reporting cadence when available; state
   any reasonable date assumption. A chat update need not become a Notion page.
2. **Find evidence and a baseline.** Fetch supplied project pages directly. Follow
   their task and update links or search narrowly for the project's previous
   digest and relevant sources. Inspect database schemas once before queries or
   writes. Prefer period- and project-scoped queries, but include known unresolved
   blockers even when their records were not edited this week. Paginate results
   needed for complete claims; report unavailable sources or partial coverage.
3. **Compare, do not merely summarize.** Use the evidence rules below. Compare
   with the previous period's update or a dated snapshot, deduplicating records
   across views and sources. Trace changed decisions to their supporting notes.
   Do not infer a historical transition from a current status or last-edited date.
4. **Write for the audience.** Lead with meaningful changes and the current
   outlook. Include progress, continuing blockers or risks, decisions, and next
   steps or asks only where supported. Cite the relevant records near material
   claims. Carry forward unresolved items as continuing, not new. Preserve
   uncertainty and keep internal-only details out of external updates.
5. **Deliver or save.** For a save request, use the supplied or established updates
   destination and its actual schema. Check for an existing digest for the same
   project, period, and audience before creating one; update it on a rerun unless
   the user requests a separate version. Preserve unrelated commentary. Set the
   project relation when supported. Verify the write, return its link, and report
