## What it does

This skill connects coding agents to NetSuite records, covering customers, vendors, sales orders, purchase orders, and journal entries. Instead of managing OAuth flows manually, it routes requests through the Membrane CLI, which refreshes credentials in the background.

Prerequisites include network access, a Membrane account, and `@membranehq/cli` installed globally. The agent connects using `membrane connection ensure`, monitors the connection state, and looks up actions via natural language search queries.

When standard pre-built actions are not enough, the agent sends raw API calls through `membrane request`. In headless environments without a browser, authentication requires running `membrane login complete <code>` with the token generated in the web UI.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill netsuite -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/netsuite/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/netsuite/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill netsuite -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/netsuite/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill netsuite -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/netsuite/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install membranedev/application-skills netsuite
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/netsuite/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill netsuite -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/membranedev/application-skills --path skills/netsuite
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/netsuite/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill netsuite -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/membranedev/application-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/netsuite/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- fetch paginated lists of customers, vendors, or invoices from NetSuite
- create or update customer records directly from project context
- inspect sales orders and purchase orders without leaving the terminal
- dispatch direct requests to NetSuite API endpoints via the Membrane proxy

## Example prompts
- List the latest 10 invoices from our NetSuite account
- Create a new vendor in NetSuite using the contact details from vendor.json
- Check the status of purchase order PO-10492 in NetSuite

# NetSuite

NetSuite is a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) software suite. It helps businesses manage various operations like accounting, inventory, and supply chain. It's typically used by medium to large-sized companies.

Official docs: https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/index.html

## Working with NetSuite

This skill uses the Membrane CLI to interact with NetSuite. Membrane handles authentication and credentials refresh automatically — so you can focus on the integration logic rather than auth plumbing.

### Install the CLI

Install the Membrane CLI so you can run `membrane` from the terminal:

```bash
npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest
```

### Authentication

```bash
membrane login --tenant --clientName=<agentType>
```

This will either open a browser for authentication or print an authorization URL to the console, depending on whether interactive mode is available.

**Headless environments:** The command will print an authorization URL. Ask the user to open it in a browser. When they see a code after completing login, finish with:

```bash
membrane login complete <code>
```

Add `--json` to any command for machine-readable JSON output.

**Agent Types** : claude, openclaw, codex, warp, windsurf, etc. Those will be used to adjust tooling to be used best with your harness

### Connecting to NetSuite

Use `membrane connection ensure` to find or create a connection by app URL or domain:

```bash
membrane connection ensure "https://www.netsuite.com/" --json
```
The user completes authentication in the browser. The output contains the new connection id.

This is the fastest way to get a connection. The URL is normalized to a domain and matched against known apps. If no app is found, one is created and a connector is built automatically.

If the returned connection has `state: "READY"`, skip to **Step 2**.

#### 1b. Wait for the connection to be ready

If the connection is in `BUILDING` state, poll until it's ready:

```bash
npx @membranehq/cli connection get <id> --wait --json
```

The `--wait` flag long-polls (up to `--timeout` seconds, default 30) until the state changes. Keep polling until `state` is no longer `BUILDING`.

The resulting state tells you what to do next:

- **`READY`** — connection is fully set up. Skip to **Step 2**.

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the bdc4420b08bafc7c tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
