## What it does

negafix runs while an agent writes or edits project prose. It covers documentation, READMEs, marketing copy, commit messages, and pull request descriptions. On an audit, it identifies sentences built around a rejected modest claim followed by a grander restatement, then scores the result.

The skill turns those sentences into direct statements anchored in checkable details. It can keep a useful exclusion as a separate fact, while ordinary factual negation remains valid. Installation places `SKILL.md` under the directory used by the selected coding tool.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill negafix -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/negafix/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/negafix/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill negafix -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/negafix/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill negafix -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/negafix/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install sentimony/skills negafix
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/negafix/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill negafix -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/sentimony/skills --path plugins/writing/skills/negafix
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/negafix/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill negafix -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/sentimony/skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/writing/skills/negafix/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- audit a README for inflated contrast patterns
- rewrite marketing copy around concrete claims
- score prose findings across a project
- clean up pull request descriptions before review

## Example prompts
- Audit this README for inflated contrast patterns and report each finding.
- Rewrite the matches in `docs/guide.md` as direct, specific claims.
- Check the project’s marketing copy and score the remaining findings.

# No Negative Parallelism

Negative parallelism is the sentence shape "it's not just X, it's Y": a modest claim
negated and restated grander, where the second clause adds nothing the first lacked.
In classical rhetoric the figure is antithesis; in generated text it is filler that
performs depth instead of delivering it. This skill bans the construction in new text
and, on request, audits a project for it and scores the result.

The ban covers the construction and leaves negation itself alone. "The exporter does
not compress its output" is plain factual negation and is always fine. "This isn't a
date picker, it's a whole new way to think about time" is the banned shape.
A sentence with a negated half and a complementary positive half is the construction
whenever nobody voiced the position that the negated half rejects.

The construction inflates a claim the same way in every language, so the ban holds
across languages. What changes with the language is the noise level of the detection
patterns, which the Detection patterns section covers.

## Write mode

Always on while this skill sits in context; applies to file edits, new files, commit
messages, PR descriptions, and your own replies.

- State the claim positively, anchored in a concrete, checkable detail.
- Rewrite recipes:
  - Keep the positive half and drop the negated half when the negated half carried
    nothing: "It's not just a formatter, it rewrites imports to the project's aliases"
    becomes "It rewrites imports to the project's aliases."
  - A fact in the negated half survives the rewrite as its own sentence; the contrast
    form itself goes. "This isn't a message broker; it stores each event once and
    replays it on demand" becomes "It stores each event once and replays it on demand.
    It is not a message broker." Keep the exclusion as stated: "a durable log" drops
    it, and "an event store" adds a classification the original never made.
  - If the second half is abstract ("transforms your workflow"), replace it with the
    specific fact it was gesturing at, or delete the sentence.
  - If a real misconception needs correcting, name who holds it and give the correction
    its own sentence; that is contrast with content, and it is allowed.
- Verbatim quotations and diagnostic output inherit the `quotation` verdict, and the
  examples in this skill inherit it too. Reproduce a violation as it stands when you
  report it rather than paraphrasing the evidence away.

**Two rewrite variants.** Every `violation` gets two rewrites, and the author picks one:

- **A** keeps only the positive half. Next to it, in parentheses, name what the negated
  half said that A drops.
- **B** keeps both thoughts without the construction: the positive claim first, the
  exclusion as its own sentence or restated positively. B carries the negated half
  only when the information-gain test finds a fact in it. When the negated half names
  a lesser or inflated version of the claim and nothing else, B = A without the
