## What it does

The skill exposes NotebookLM as `/nblm` commands. You can list and manage notebooks, add sources from a file, a URL or a YouTube video, pull the indexed text of a source, and generate audio overviews, slide decks or infographics. Because replies come back tied to the documents in the notebook, there is less room for the model to make things up.

Setup runs through `run.py`. On the first call it creates a `.venv` and installs the Python and Node.js packages; if Google credentials are absent or stale, a browser window opens for sign-in. So you need a browser and access to your own Google account. `login` starts auth, and `accounts` handles several Google logins.

Folder sync is the one place the agent pauses: without a target flag it asks whether to use the current notebook or make a new one, then passes `--use-active` or `--create-new`. Long jobs such as a podcast return a task ID that you poll separately. An expired Google session mid-run will fail the call, so sign in again.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add magicseek/nblm --skill nblm -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/nblm/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/nblm/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add magicseek/nblm --skill nblm -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/nblm/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add magicseek/nblm --skill nblm -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/nblm/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install magicseek/nblm nblm
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/nblm/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add magicseek/nblm --skill nblm -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/magicseek/nblm
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/nblm/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add magicseek/nblm --skill nblm -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/magicseek/nblm/tree/HEAD/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- get cited answers from documents already uploaded to a notebook
- push a whole folder of files into a NotebookLM notebook
- turn notebook material into an audio podcast or briefing
- export a generated slide deck as PDF
- keep several Google accounts apart while working

## Example prompts
- Ask the notebook what the docs say about the release schedule
- Upload the `docs/specs` folder to the active notebook
- Generate a podcast from the last notebook and download it

# NotebookLM Quick Commands

Query Google NotebookLM for source-grounded, citation-backed answers.

## Environment

All dependencies and authentication are handled automatically by `run.py`:
- First run creates `.venv` and installs Python/Node.js dependencies
- If Google auth is missing or expired, a browser window opens automatically
- No manual pre-flight steps required

---

## Usage

`/nblm <command> [args]`

| `summary [--id ID]` | Get AI-generated summary |
| `describe [--id ID]` | Get description and suggested topics |
| `add <url-or-id>` | Add notebook to local library (auto-detects URL vs notebook ID) |
| `activate <id>` | Set active notebook |

### Source Management
| Command | Description |
|---------|-------------|
| `sources [--id ID]` | List sources in notebook |
