## What it does

This skill compares live websites, pitch decks, and app store listings against canon records in `memory/narrative-registry/canon.md`. It pulls historical snapshots using `scripts/connectors/wayback.py` with timestamped observation dates. The resulting drift report identifies message divergence and outlines conditions that should trigger formal repositioning.

It handles one lever during the TALE Evaluate phase. The skill does not score narrative quality or validate drafts before release. Unsubstantiated claims are never validated directly; instead, the tool flags them as `[needs source]` and queues them in `memory/events/claims.ndjson`.

Running this check without an established canon in `memory/narrative-registry/` will fail, because the agent needs a baseline record to detect deviation.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-drift-monitor -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/narrative-drift-monitor/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/narrative-drift-monitor/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-drift-monitor -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/narrative-drift-monitor/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-drift-monitor -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/narrative-drift-monitor/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills narrative-drift-monitor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/narrative-drift-monitor/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-drift-monitor -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path narrative/evaluate/narrative-drift-monitor
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/narrative-drift-monitor/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-drift-monitor -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- detect marketing copy drift against the established brand canon
- flag competitor repositioning moves across category surfaces
- compile D1, W1, or M1 retrospectives on message pull-through
- define explicit trigger conditions for narrative repositioning

## Example prompts
- Check whether our homepage, pricing page, and store listing have drifted from the canon since the last version. Canon: memory/narrative/.
- Watch [competitors] for repositioning against our category frame and tell me if any change should trigger a review.
- Run the W1 message-shift retro for [launch] — intended narrative vs what actually landed.
