# narrative-baseline-mapper

Walks every surface you own — homepage, pricing, docs, deck, bios, email footers — and records what each one claims today, plus the gap against your intended message.

## What it does

The skill lists the surfaces in scope and captures the current state of each: the homepage headline, the pricing value line, the docs intro, the deck one-liner, social bios, email signatures. Every line carries an as-of date and a Measured, User-provided or Estimated label. Then each surface gets a gap read against the intended message — aligned, drifted, contradictory or silent.

No paid tools involved. You can paste copy by hand, or pull it through `scripts/connectors/firecrawl.py`, which runs a robots pre-flight first. Change history comes from `scripts/connectors/wayback.py`. Closed platforms such as X, Instagram and LinkedIn enter only as copy you paste in with an as-of date; the skill does not scrape them. If a canon already sits in `memory/narrative-registry/`, the gap is read against it instead of guessed.

Any claim found on a live surface that cannot be verified is marked `[needs source]` and sent to `memory/events/claims.ndjson` through `registry-events.py` with `operation: propose`. The skill does not adjudicate it and never writes canon — that flag is a prompt to check who on the team owns the wording. Output lands in `memory/narrative/narrative-baseline-mapper/`, and the frozen drift snapshot can be promoted to `memory/hot-cache.md` and `memory/open-loops.md` after asking.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-baseline-mapper -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/narrative-baseline-mapper/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/narrative-baseline-mapper/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-baseline-mapper -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/narrative-baseline-mapper/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-baseline-mapper -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/narrative-baseline-mapper/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills narrative-baseline-mapper
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/narrative-baseline-mapper/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-baseline-mapper -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path narrative/trace/narrative-baseline-mapper
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/narrative-baseline-mapper/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill narrative-baseline-mapper -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- collect every claim your surfaces make right now into one list
- spot where published copy drifts from the intended message
- freeze a before-snapshot ahead of a repositioning
- flag claims that have no source behind them
- compare live wording against an existing canon

## Example prompts
- Map what our surfaces say today for [brand]. Surfaces: homepage, pricing, docs, deck, bios, email footers — here are the URLs.
- Inventory our current messaging and show the gap vs our intended message: "[intended one-liner]".
- Freeze a narrative drift baseline before we reposition — snapshot every owned surface as of today.
