## What it does

This skill provides patterns and scripts for multi-tenant PostgreSQL architectures. It sets up Row Level Security policies using `current_setting('app.tenant_id')`, provides a Prisma middleware wrapper that executes `SET LOCAL app.tenant_id` inside transactions, and includes a verification checklist.

For automated verification, the skill supplies test suites covering cross-tenant reads, updates, deletes, and transaction rollbacks. An included TypeScript audit script inspects `pg_tables` and `information_schema.columns` to find missing `tenant_id` columns and disabled RLS flags.

Without `FORCE ROW LEVEL SECURITY`, table owners bypass PostgreSQL isolation rules entirely. The skill explicitly enforces this flag across all protected tables to prevent accidental data leaks.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill multi-tenant-safety-checker -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/multi-tenant-safety-checker/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/multi-tenant-safety-checker/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill multi-tenant-safety-checker -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/multi-tenant-safety-checker/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill multi-tenant-safety-checker -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/multi-tenant-safety-checker/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install patricio0312rev/skills multi-tenant-safety-checker
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/multi-tenant-safety-checker/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill multi-tenant-safety-checker -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/patricio0312rev/skills --path db-management/multi-tenant-safety-checker
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/multi-tenant-safety-checker/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill multi-tenant-safety-checker -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- enforce PostgreSQL Row Level Security across tenant tables
- bind tenant identifiers inside Prisma client transactions
- audit PostgreSQL tables for missing tenant_id fields
- write integration tests verifying cross-tenant read and delete blocks

## Example prompts
- Set up PostgreSQL Row Level Security policies and create a Prisma tenant context middleware
- Audit my database schema for missing tenant_id columns and check RLS enforcement status
- Add automated tests to verify that cross-tenant updates and deletes fail under RLS

# Multi-tenant Safety Checker

Ensure complete tenant isolation and prevent data leakage.

## Row Level Security (RLS)

### PostgreSQL RLS Setup

```sql
-- Enable RLS on tables
ALTER TABLE users ENABLE ROW LEVEL SECURITY;
ALTER TABLE orders ENABLE ROW LEVEL SECURITY;
ALTER TABLE products ENABLE ROW LEVEL SECURITY;
-- Create policy for users table
CREATE POLICY tenant_isolation_policy ON users
  USING (tenant_id = current_setting('app.tenant_id')::INTEGER);
-- Create policy for orders table
CREATE POLICY tenant_isolation_policy ON orders
  USING (tenant_id = current_setting('app.tenant_id')::INTEGER);
-- Create policy for products table
CREATE POLICY tenant_isolation_policy ON products
  USING (tenant_id = current_setting('app.tenant_id')::INTEGER);
-- Force RLS even for table owners
ALTER TABLE users FORCE ROW LEVEL SECURITY;
ALTER TABLE orders FORCE ROW LEVEL SECURITY;
ALTER TABLE products FORCE ROW LEVEL SECURITY;
```

### Application-Level Tenant Context

```typescript
// middleware/tenant-context.ts
import { PrismaClient } from "@prisma/client";
export class TenantContext {
  constructor(private prisma: PrismaClient) {}
  async setTenant(tenantId: number): Promise<void> {
    await this.prisma.$executeRaw`
      SET LOCAL app.tenant_id = ${tenantId}
    `;
  }
  async withTenant<T>(
    tenantId: number,
    callback: () => Promise<T>
  ): Promise<T> {
    return this.prisma.$transaction(async (tx) => {
      // Set tenant context for this transaction
      await tx.$executeRaw`SET LOCAL app.tenant_id = ${tenantId}`;
      // Execute queries within tenant context
      return callback();
    });
  }
}
// Usage in API route
app.get("/api/orders", async (req, res) => {
  const tenantId = req.user.tenantId;
  const orders = await tenantContext.withTenant(tenantId, async () => {
    return prisma.order.findMany(); // Automatically filtered by RLS
  });
  res.json(orders);
});
```

## Tenant Isolation Checklist

- [ ] `tenant_id` is NOT NULL on all tables
- [ ] Foreign keys include tenant_id checks
- [ ] Row Level Security enabled on all tables
- [ ] RLS policies created for all tables
- [ ] RLS enforced even for table owners
- [ ] Composite indexes include tenant_id

## Application Level
