## What it does

The skill wires up three outside sources: Gemini 2.5 Pro through the `gemini` CLI, OpenAI GPT-4 through the `codex` CLI, and a fresh Claude subagent through the Task tool. The first two run as plain command-line tools, so there is no MCP server to stand up. Gemini can search the web and runs in thinking mode, Codex scans the project directory on its own, and the Claude subagent is free and quick.

You invoke it with slash commands: `/consult-gemini`, `/consult-codex`, `/consult-claude`, plus the `/consult-ai` router that picks an AI for you. Every answer comes back in five parts: Claude's own analysis, the external AI's full response, the key differences, a combined read on the root cause, and specific next steps with file paths. The skill asks permission before touching anything.

First run needs the CLIs and keys: `bun add -g @google/generative-ai-cli` for Gemini, `bun add -g codex` for Codex, then `export GEMINI_API_KEY="..."` and `export OPENAI_API_KEY="..."`. Without the matching key that command simply will not run, so check your environment before you rely on it. Templates `GEMINI.md`, `codex.md` and `.geminiignore` go into the project root — they set the response format for the outside models.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill multi-ai-consultant -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/multi-ai-consultant/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/multi-ai-consultant/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill multi-ai-consultant -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/multi-ai-consultant/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill multi-ai-consultant -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/multi-ai-consultant/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/claude-skills multi-ai-consultant
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/multi-ai-consultant/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill multi-ai-consultant -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills --path plugins/multi-ai-consultant/skills/multi-ai-consultant
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/multi-ai-consultant/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill multi-ai-consultant -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/multi-ai-consultant/skills/multi-ai-consultant/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- get a second opinion on a bug that survived the first fix attempt
- validate an architecture choice before writing the code
- run authentication logic past an outside reviewer
- spot where your own reasoning and another model's answer diverge
- check a refactor against the rest of the repository

## Example prompts
- /consult-gemini Is this JWT secure by 2025 standards?
- /consult-codex Review for performance bottlenecks
- /consult-claude Am I missing something obvious?

# Multi-AI Consultant

Consult external AIs for second opinions when Claude Code is stuck or making critical decisions.

---

## What This Skill Does

This skill enables **future Claude Code sessions** to consult other AIs when:
- Stuck on a bug after one failed attempt
- Making architectural decisions
- Security concerns need validation
- Fresh perspective needed

**Key innovation**: Uses existing CLI tools (`gemini`, `codex`) instead of building MCP servers - much simpler and more maintainable.

---

## When to Use This Skill

### Automatic Triggers (No User Action Needed)

Claude Code should **automatically suggest** using this skill when:

1. **After 1 failed debugging attempt**
   - Tried one approach to fix a bug
   - Still not working or different error
   - → Suggest: "Should I consult [Gemini|Fresh Claude] for a second opinion?"

2. **Before architectural decisions**
   - Significant design choices (state management, routing, data flow)
   - Framework selection
   - Database schema design
   - → Auto-consult (mention to user): "Consulting Gemini for architectural validation..."

3. **Security changes**
   - Authentication logic
   - Authorization rules
   - Cryptography
   - Input validation
   - → Auto-consult: "Consulting Gemini to verify security approach..."

4. **When uncertain**
   - Multiple valid approaches
   - Trade-offs not clear
   - Conflicting advice in documentation
   - → Suggest: "Would you like me to consult another AI for additional perspective?"

### Manual Invocation (User Commands)

User can explicitly request consultation with:
- `/consult-gemini [question]` - Gemini 2.5 Pro with thinking, search, grounding
```
