## What it does

The skill divides execution into two clear phases. First, it takes a full-body or medium-shot photo and triggers `muapi image edit` using `nano-banana-2-edit`. The detailed prompt keeps the original facial structure, hairstyle, and outfit intact while sculpting a stylized 3D character with clean studio lighting.

Once you approve the still render, the agent asks for a motion clip. It forwards the cartoon character and the dance clip to `kling-v2.6-std-motion-control` via `muapi video from-image`. The resulting video transfers the recorded dance steps directly onto the 3D model.

Execution depends strictly on the `muapi` CLI tool and an active `MUAPI_API_KEY`. If an endpoint lacks a CLI alias, the agent falls back to direct `POST` calls against `https://api.muapi.ai/api/v1/` and polls via `muapi predict wait`. Without valid API credentials, generation fails at step one.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --skill muapi-cartoon-dance-animation -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --skill cartoon-dance-animation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cartoon-dance-animation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cartoon-dance-animation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --skill cartoon-dance-animation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cartoon-dance-animation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --skill cartoon-dance-animation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cartoon-dance-animation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills cartoon-dance-animation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cartoon-dance-animation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --skill cartoon-dance-animation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --path library/motion/cartoon-dance-animation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cartoon-dance-animation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --skill cartoon-dance-animation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills/tree/HEAD/library/motion/cartoon-dance-animation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- convert a portrait into a stylized 3D cartoon avatar
- transfer choreography from a reference video to an animated character
- chain MuAPI image editing and motion control video generation models

## Example prompts
- Cartoonify my photo and animate it using the dance from this video
- Turn portrait.jpg into a 3D character and transfer motions from dance.mp4

# Cartoon Dance Animation

**Convert a photo of a person into a Pixar-style 3D cartoon character, then animate it using a reference dance or motion video.**

## Inputs

| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|:---|:---|:---|:---|:---|
| `user_image` | image_url | yes | — | A clear full-body or medium-shot photo of the person to be cartoonified. |
| `reference_video` | video_url | no | — | A video containing the specific dance or motion to apply to the character. |

## Steps

### Phase A — Cartoon Character Generation

If `{{user_image}}` is not provided, ask the user to upload their photo.

Once the photo is available, submit the plan with ONE step to cartoonify the image:

1. **Image Generation** — `muapi image edit` (model=`nano-banana-2-edit`):
   - Reference Image: `{{user_image}}`
   - Prompt: `Use the uploaded input photo as the exact same person in the final render. Preserve identity accurately: same face shape, eyes, nose, lips, jawline, skin tone, hairstyle, hairline, expression, age, and overall vibe. Do NOT change the person into a different face. Keep it clearly recognizable as the same person. Create one full-size ultra-high-quality 3D stylized character illustration, Pixar-inspired but original, based on the input person. Smooth plastic-like skin, soft rounded facial features, big expressive eyes, small nose, subtle blush (very minimal), cozy wholesome aesthetic. High-end character sculpting with stylized proportions while maintaining the real person’s likeness. 👕 Outfit / Costume (MUST MATCH INPUT) Keep the costume/outfit EXACTLY the same as the input image. Do not change colors, fabric type, accessories, layers, patterns, logos, or fit. No added glasses, no headphones, no new jacket, no new styling. 💇 Hair (Exact Match) Hair must remain the same as the input image: same hairstyle, same length, same hairline, only converted into clean stylized 3D hair shapes. 🎨 Render Quality Premium character sculpting, soft studio lighting, global illumination, subsurface scattering, soft shadows, cinematic depth of field, crisp edges. Octane/Arnold render look, ultra-clean, high-quality shading, 8K detail. 🎯 Composition Single full-size image (NOT a grid). Full-body or medium shot matching the input pose and vibe. Minimal clean studio background (solid color), no clutter.`
