## What it does

ms365-tenant-manager provides guidance and automation for Microsoft 365 tenant configuration, user lifecycle management, Exchange Online, Teams administration, and security controls. It can produce PowerShell for bulk actions, Conditional Access policies, license assignment, and compliance reporting.

The package includes three Python standard-library generators: `scripts/tenant_setup.py`, `scripts/user_management.py`, and `scripts/powershell_generator.py`. They create tenant plans, DNS records, user provisioning and offboarding scripts, Conditional Access policies, security audits, and bulk licensing scripts. Inputs can be JSON or CSV, passed through command-line options.

User creation has a required gate: run `--action validate` first and confirm that every record returns `"is_valid": true`. Review each generated `.ps1` before running it against the tenant. Microsoft Graph operations also require the scopes used by the relevant commands.

## Requirements
- Works with: Azure

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add alirezarezvani/claude-skills
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install engineering-skills@claude-code-skills
```
This installs the whole engineering-skills plugin with all its skills

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alirezarezvani/claude-skills --skill ms365-tenant-manager -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ms365-tenant-manager/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ms365-tenant-manager/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ms365-tenant-manager/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ms365-tenant-manager/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alirezarezvani/claude-skills ms365-tenant-manager
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ms365-tenant-manager/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alirezarezvani/claude-skills --path engineering-team/skills/ms365-tenant-manager
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ms365-tenant-manager/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alirezarezvani/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/engineering-team/skills/ms365-tenant-manager/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- set up a new Microsoft 365 tenant
- audit Conditional Access policies and MFA registration
- create or offboard users from JSON and CSV
- generate PowerShell for bulk license assignment
- prepare DNS records and a license plan

## Example prompts
- Audit the tenant’s Conditional Access policies and identify users without registered MFA.
- Validate `users.json`, then generate a PowerShell script for creating the users.
- Build a tenant setup plan from `sample_input.json` and save it as `tenant_plan.json`.

# Microsoft 365 Tenant Manager

Expert guidance and automation for Microsoft 365 Global Administrators managing tenant setup, user lifecycle, security policies, and organizational optimization.

---

## Quick Start

### Run a Security Audit

```powershell
Connect-MgGraph -Scopes "Directory.Read.All","Policy.Read.All","AuditLog.Read.All"
Get-MgSubscribedSku | Select-Object SkuPartNumber, ConsumedUnits, @{N="Total";E={$_.PrepaidUnits.Enabled}}
Get-MgPolicyAuthorizationPolicy | Select-Object AllowInvitesFrom, DefaultUserRolePermissions
```

### Bulk Provision Users from CSV

```powershell
# CSV columns: DisplayName, UserPrincipalName, Department, LicenseSku
Import-Csv .\new_users.csv | ForEach-Object {
    $passwordProfile = @{ Password = (New-Guid).ToString().Substring(0,16) + "!"; ForceChangePasswordNextSignIn = $true }
    New-MgUser -DisplayName $_.DisplayName -UserPrincipalName $_.UserPrincipalName `
               -Department $_.Department -AccountEnabled -PasswordProfile $passwordProfile
}
```

### Create a Conditional Access Policy (MFA for Admins)

```powershell
$adminRoles = (Get-MgDirectoryRole | Where-Object { $_.DisplayName -match "Admin" }).Id
$policy = @{
    DisplayName = "Require MFA for Admins"
    State = "enabledForReportingButNotEnforced"   # Start in report-only mode
    Conditions = @{ Users = @{ IncludeRoles = $adminRoles } }
    GrantControls = @{ Operator = "OR"; BuiltInControls = @("mfa") }
}
New-MgIdentityConditionalAccessPolicy -BodyParameter $policy
```

### Bundled Python Generators

Three stdlib tools generate the PowerShell artifacts deterministically — prefer them over hand-writing scripts for bulk/repeatable work. Sample input: `sample_input.json`; expected shape: `expected_output.json`.

```bash
# Tenant setup: checklist + DNS records + license plan (JSON), or the full setup script
python3 scripts/tenant_setup.py --config sample_input.json --format json -o tenant_plan.json
python3 scripts/tenant_setup.py --config sample_input.json --format powershell -o tenant_setup.ps1
# User lifecycle: validate first, then generate creation/offboarding scripts
python3 scripts/user_management.py --domain acme.com --action validate --users users.json
````
