## What it does

The skill walks through mobile-first indexing. Google crawls and ranks the mobile version of a page, so anything missing there costs you positions. The agent checks content parity, matching title and meta description, schema.org markup on both versions, and whether images stay crawlable.

Then comes the usability checklist. A required `<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">`, body text at 16px or more, buttons and links at least 48×48px with spacing between them, no horizontal scrolling. The skill advises against `user-scalable=no` and `maximum-scale` because they break accessibility. Intrusive interstitials get their own pass, along with accordions and tabs that hide primary content.

On AMP the position is blunt: it is no longer required, gives no ranking edge over a well-built responsive page, and maintaining separate AMP HTML is extra work. For most sites responsive design plus Core Web Vitals wins. If the project runs separate mobile URLs like `m.example.com`, you will need canonical and hreflang, and the skill points to the related topics. On first run it reads `contextus.md` at the project root when that file exists and loads only the modules the task needs.

## When to use it
- check content parity between mobile and desktop versions
- fix the viewport meta tag and kill horizontal scrolling
- raise tap target sizes and base font to readable values
- decide whether the project needs AMP or responsive is enough
- set up canonical and hreflang for separate mobile URLs

## Example prompts
- Audit the mobile version: viewport, font size, touch targets, horizontal scroll
- Find where mobile content diverges from desktop and propose fixes
- Do we need AMP, or is responsive design plus Core Web Vitals enough?

# SEO Technical: Mobile-Friendly

Guides mobile-first indexing optimization and mobile usability. Google uses the mobile version of pages for indexing and ranking; mobile-friendliness is a ranking factor.

**When invoking**: On **first use**, if helpful, open with 1–2 sentences on what this skill covers and why it matters, then provide the main output. On **subsequent use** or when the user asks to skip, go directly to the main output.

## Scope (Technical SEO)

- **Mobile-first indexing**: Google primarily crawls and indexes mobile version
- **Mobile adaptation**: Responsive design, viewport, breakpoints
- **Content parity**: Mobile and desktop content should match (or mobile preferred)
- **Mobile usability**: Viewport, font size, touch targets, no intrusive interstitials
- **AMP**: Accelerated Mobile Pages—status and when to consider

## Initial Assessment

**Project context:** Read root `contextus.md` when present and load only the modules relevant to this task. Without Contextus, use available project material or user-provided facts and ask for missing information; do not create a parallel context system.

Identify:
1. **Site type**: Responsive, separate AMP, dynamic serving
2. **Content parity**: Does mobile show same content as desktop?
3. **Tools**: GSC Mobile Usability report; [Mobile-Friendly Test](https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly)

## Mobile-First Indexing Requirements

| Requirement | Action |
|-------------|--------|
| **Content parity** | Mobile version must include same primary content as desktop; avoid hiding key content on mobile |
| **Structured data** | Same schema on mobile and desktop; ensure mobile URLs in schema |
| **Metadata** | Same title, meta description on mobile |
| **Media** | Images should be crawlable; avoid lazy-loading above-fold images |
