## What it does

Reach for this skill before you resume work or pick up a new task. It reconstructs what you did across recent chats and folds that into a tight capsule. Transcripts live at `${CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR:-$HOME/.claude}/projects/<encoded-cwd>/<uuid>.jsonl`, one message per line. Run `node <plugin>/skills/reflect/scripts/claude-project-dir.mjs` to print the current session's directory instead of building `<encoded-cwd>` by hand.

The skill works in stages. It pins the scope first: the time window (default the last 7 days), the topic if you named one, and the workspace. Then it fans out parallel subagents on a fast model, each taking a slice of the corpus, ordering candidates by real modification time with `ls -t` and returning one block per chat. Separately it sweeps the shared record — source control, the issue tracker, chat and issue channels, docs, error tracking — and checks the PRs, branches and tickets it surfaces with `git` and `gh`.

Some conditions apply. On GitHub Copilot and Muse you read the platform mapping, including its per-skill notes, before following the skill. For one or two chats the fan-out is skipped and the search runs directly. Other projects' transcripts stay untouched unless asked for. If the project's rules name places for queued or recorded items, those get swept too, because a search that skips them is not exhausted.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add michael-denyer/pstack-claude --skill recall -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/recall/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/recall/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add michael-denyer/pstack-claude --skill recall -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/recall/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add michael-denyer/pstack-claude --skill recall -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/recall/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install michael-denyer/pstack-claude recall
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/recall/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add michael-denyer/pstack-claude --skill recall -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/michael-denyer/pstack-claude --path plugins/pstack/skills/recall
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/recall/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add michael-denyer/pstack-claude --skill recall -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/michael-denyer/pstack-claude/tree/HEAD/plugins/pstack/skills/recall/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pick up where you left off in the last session
- pull the state of one topic out of several chats
- find what was already tried and reverted
- check whether PRs and branches are still current
- tell recorded work apart from work that was never logged

## Example prompts
- recall what I did on auth this week
- catch me up on this branch and tell me the next move
- recall the payments work: what's open, what got reverted

**Before you start or resume work, you rebuild the user's recent working context and hand back a tight capsule of where things stand now and what to do next.**

Keep it tight and on-topic. Read only what the in-scope threads need, then stop.

Your context lives in two records. Your own chat history holds what you did and decided. The shared record holds everything that happened around the same code under other names: the symptoms users keep reporting, the fixes that shipped and got reverted, the errors still firing in prod. That second record is what the **why** skill searches, across source control, the issue tracker, chat and issue channels, long-form docs, and error tracking. A feature with a long bug tail keeps most of its story there, so don't reconstruct it from your transcripts alone.

Transcripts live at `${CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR:-$HOME/.claude}/projects/<encoded-cwd>/<uuid>.jsonl`. Every line is one chat message. Run `node <plugin>/skills/reflect/scripts/claude-project-dir.mjs` to print this session's directory rather than building `<encoded-cwd>` by hand. Claude Code turns each character other than an ASCII letter or digit into "-" (so `/Users/you/my_app.web` becomes `-Users-you-my-app-web`), shortens a name past 200 characters with a hash, and takes `CLAUDE_CODE_PROJECT_DIR_NAME` in its place when that is set with `CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR`.
