## What it does

The skill runs the whole loop: submit a task to Meshy AI, poll it, download the GLB, and write a `meta.json` next to it. Modes are `text-to-3d`, `image-to-3d`, `rig`, `animate`, and `status`. Text generation goes in two steps, preview for geometry then refine for textures. Add `--preview-only` when you only want to check the shape, or `--pbr` with `--polycount` when materials and triangle count matter.

Everything sits in one zero-dependency Node.js script, `scripts/meshy-generate.mjs`. Rigging only works on textured bipedal models with clearly defined limbs, so animals, vehicles, and abstract shapes stay static. The same run also fetches `hero-walk.glb` and `hero-run.glb`. The author advises treating generate → rig as a single step for humanoids rather than leaving them unrigged.

You need a `MESHY_API_KEY` and internet access. The skill checks `.env` first, then exports it with `set -a; . .env; set +a`. With no key it offers to take one or suggests typing "skip", which switches to fallbacks: a pre-built character library, `find-3d-asset.mjs` for Sketchfab and Poly Haven, and procedural geometry last. Post-generation verification of orientation and scale is not optional here — skip it and the model lands sideways or at the wrong size.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill meshyai -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/meshyai/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/meshyai/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill meshyai -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/meshyai/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill meshyai -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/meshyai/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install PlayableIntelligence/game-creator meshyai
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/meshyai/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill meshyai -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --path skills/meshyai
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/meshyai/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill meshyai -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/PlayableIntelligence/game-creator/tree/HEAD/skills/meshyai/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- generate a GLB knight model from a text prompt
- turn character concept art into a 3D model
- rig a bipedal character and get walk plus run animations
- tune polycount and PBR textures for Three.js performance
- fall back to free model libraries when no Meshy key is available

## Example prompts
- Generate a 3D model of a wooden barrel with meshyai and save it to public/assets/models/
- Make a character model from ./concept-art/hero.png and rig it in the same step
- Check the status of a text-to-3d task by its task-id

# Meshy AI — 3D Model Generation, Rigging & Animation

You are an expert at generating custom 3D models with Meshy AI and integrating them into Three.js browser games. **Meshy is the preferred source for all 3D game assets** — it generates exactly what you need from a text description or reference image, with consistent art style and game-ready topology.

## Performance Notes

- Take your time with each step. Quality is more important than speed.
- Do not skip validation steps — they catch issues early.
- Read the full context of each file before making changes.
- Always run post-generation verification. Never assume orientation or scale.

## Why Meshy First

- **Exact match**: Generate precisely the character, prop, or scenery your game needs — no compromises
- **Consistent style**: All assets from the same generation pipeline share a cohesive look
- **Custom characters**: Named personalities, branded characters, unique creatures — all generated to spec
- **Full pipeline**: Generate → rig → animate, all from one tool
- **Game-ready**: Control polycount, topology, and PBR textures for optimal Three.js performance

## Fallback Sources
