# meshy-openclaw

Generates 3D models, textures, rigging, and animations via Meshy CLI, then prepares assets for 3D printing. Useful when sending meshes directly to a slicer without manual conversion.

## What it does

The skill controls `meshy-cli` version 0.4.3 to produce 3D assets through Meshy services. It handles text-to-3D, image-to-3D, texturing, auto-rigging, and physical print prep. For physical printing, the agent inspects geometry for manifold errors, resizes parts, and opens them in an installed slicer application.

Execution stays contained to the Meshy CLI and npm without Python or `curl`. Local input files face a 50 MiB limit and must be in GLB or glTF formats. Rigging and multicolor printing strictly require GLB files, so anything larger must be passed as an external URL.

Authentication runs via an OAuth device flow in the browser, storing the active session in `~/.config/meshy/credentials.json`. An existing `MESHY_API_KEY` takes precedence if present, but entering keys into the chat is never required. Output is restricted to `./meshy_output` or a specified project folder.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent --skill meshy-openclaw -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/meshy-openclaw/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/meshy-openclaw/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent --skill meshy-openclaw -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/meshy-openclaw/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent --skill meshy-openclaw -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/meshy-openclaw/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent meshy-openclaw
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/meshy-openclaw/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent --skill meshy-openclaw -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent --path skills/meshy-openclaw
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/meshy-openclaw/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent --skill meshy-openclaw -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent/tree/HEAD/skills/meshy-openclaw/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Generate textured 3D models from text prompts or input reference images
- Inspect and repair 3D meshes before handing them off to a local slicer
- Add rigging and animation rigs to local GLB character models
- Split complex geometry into separate parts for multicolor 3D printing

## Example prompts
- Generate a low-poly chest from this prompt and save it as a GLB file
- Check this model for 3D printing errors, scale it down, and open it in the slicer
- Rig and animate this character using local file character.glb

# Meshy 3D — Generation + Printing

Use Meshy CLI **0.4.3** to turn the user's request into a delivered asset: the requested files
in the requested location, an inspected preview when one exists, and — for prints — the
intended size, analysis/repair results and a slicer handoff when asked. Login or task
submission alone is not completion. Choose the shortest suitable pipeline and reuse existing
assets for follow-ups.

## SECURITY MANIFEST

**Executables:** only the Meshy CLI — `meshy`, or the pinned temporary package
`npm exec --yes --package=meshy-cli@0.4.3 -- meshy`. No Python, no `curl`, no bundled scripts.

**Credentials:** the CLI's own browser sign-in (OAuth device flow) stores and refreshes a
session in `~/.config/meshy/credentials.json` (mode 0600). An existing `MESHY_API_KEY`, or an
explicit `--api-key-file`, is honoured and takes precedence. The skill never reads, prints or
copies a token, device code or key, and never asks for one in chat. `MESHY_API_KEY` is optional.

**Network:** the Meshy API (`api.meshy.ai`) and its sign-in page (`www.meshy.ai`); the media
hosts of assets being downloaded or input URLs being checked, without the credential; the npm
registry when the CLI is installed or run as a temporary package.

**Files:** writes only inside one workspace per job — the directory the user named, or
`./meshy_output` — and the CLI refuses paths that escape it, including through symlinks.
Existing files are not overwritten unless the user asked for it. Reads only input files the
user pointed at. Slicer handoff launches an already-installed slicer application.

**Data leaving this machine:** prompts, input images/models and task requests sent to Meshy.
