## What it does

The skill covers the whole route from concept to final files. Its Game Designer module handles concepts, systems, balance, market research and structured design documents. For assets you first settle the contract: runtime type (sprite, prop, UI, texture, tileset, map layer, animation, video, sound, music, spoken line), pixel or HD, dimensions, transparency, file format, and whether the deliverable is a single file, a variant pack, a sprite sheet or an atlas.

Two generation paths exist. General generation runs `general-image-run --generation-model image-2.5|image-2|nano-banana` (Image2.5 by default) with no template imposed, so the prompt and reference images carry the subject, style and composition — nine props on one sheet or a full UI included. The template path adds a template's style, layout, size and count, which means you have to surface the catalog of fitting options and let the user pick before using it. The older `image-2.5-run`, `image-2-run` and `nano-banana-run` commands still work, and `general-image-poll --job-id <id>` picks up any of those jobs.

Prompts here are plain language. Keyword stacks, split positive and negative blocks, token weights and sampler syntax get in the model's way and hurt consistency, so begin with the shortest sufficient prompt and add one constraint at a time when the output demands it.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Meowa-AI/meowa-skills --skill game-assets -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/game-assets/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/game-assets/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Meowa-AI/meowa-skills --skill game-assets -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/game-assets/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Meowa-AI/meowa-skills --skill game-assets -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/game-assets/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Meowa-AI/meowa-skills game-assets
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/game-assets/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Meowa-AI/meowa-skills --skill game-assets -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Meowa-AI/meowa-skills --path skills/game-assets
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/game-assets/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Meowa-AI/meowa-skills --skill game-assets -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Meowa-AI/meowa-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/game-assets/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write a design document with systems and balance
- produce a consistent variant pack for one character
- build a sprite sheet or atlas for a fixed cell size
- edit an animation frame while keeping the original
- get a voiced line or a sound effect for a scene

## Example prompts
- Draft a design document for a roguelike prototype: systems, balance, market
- Make a 64×64 pixel character plus four consistent variants
- Generate a grass and stone tileset, show me the template catalog first

# Meowa Game Assets

For coordinate-based map expansion, use `image-expander-run`; for editable expansion prompts, use `image-expander-prompt`; for selected final tile exports, use `image-expander-export`. See [maps, tiles, and textures](references/maps-tiles-and-textures.md) for matching canvas parameters and neighbor coordinates.

Plan a game or create game-ready visual and audio assets. For game concepts, systems, balance, market research, or structured design documents, use the Game Designer module. For assets, establish the final asset contract first, choose the smallest suitable capability, and combine modules only when the downstream command accepts the upstream output.

For Image2.5 free native background removal, see [Transparent asset tips](references/pixel-and-hd-assets.md#image25-transparent-asset-tips).

For HD frame animation V2, `--auto-scale-to-input` (default off, no extra credits) restores the final animation to the input dimensions with smooth scaling and retains the original animation as a second output. With background removal, only the final transparent animation is resized.

## Establish the asset contract

Determine these requirements before selecting a command:

- Runtime asset type: sprite, prop, UI, texture, tileset, map layer, animation, video, sound, music, or spoken line.
- Art representation: pixel or HD.
- Final dimensions, sprite-cell size, count, aspect ratio, transparency, and file format.
- Deliverable structure: one asset, a variant pack, sprite sheet, directional set, layer set, animation, or reusable atlas.

Single-image jobs return only the final image. Separate pack previews are available only for multiple final images.

Treat preset-defined dimensions and output counts as fixed contracts. Do not imply that prompt wording can override them.

## Choose general generation or a template
