## What it does

The skill runs searches against a local CozoDB vector database via the `memory-search.sh` script. Supported query modes include default hybrid search, semantic concept matching, exact term matching, and code symbol lookups. Role flags like `--role user` and `--role assistant` isolate specific participants in the chat.

AI Maestro must run locally for this search to function. The storage layer depends on CozoDB. Without executing `./install-memory-tools.sh` from the plugins repository, queries fail immediately. It is one of 6 orchestration skills in the suite and connects with graph and documentation scripts.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill ai-maestro/memory-search
```

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill memory-search -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/memory-search/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/memory-search/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/memory-search/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/memory-search/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install davila7/claude-code-templates memory-search
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/memory-search/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates --path cli-tool/components/skills/ai-maestro/memory-search
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/memory-search/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/skills/ai-maestro/memory-search

## When to use it
- recall architectural decisions from earlier chat sessions
- locate exact function names using symbol matching
- retrieve context before beginning a new programming task
- filter conversation history by user or assistant messages

## Example prompts
- Search memory for previous discussions about authentication
- Find earlier notes on PaymentService using term mode
- Recall what we decided regarding error handling patterns
