## What it does

The skill guides deck creation across eight sequential steps, moving from context discovery and narrative spine to slide copy, speaker notes, and QA. It defaults to Marp markdown output, while also supporting Slidev, reveal.js, or a Next.js web deck. For async investor pitch decks, it swaps the standard outline for a dedicated ten-slide framework without speaker notes.

It does not generate or edit `.pptx` files directly. To obtain an editable PowerPoint file, you hand off the finished outline and copy to an external PPTX skill. It leaves slide charts to an external dataviz tool. Setting the output format during step one is mandatory because format conventions dictate typography and where notes reside.

Step eight enforces a slide-by-slide QA review. It tests Duarte's three-second glance rule, mandates exactly one message per slide, and measures contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body copy and 3:1 for text at 24px or above). This catches cluttered slides before any audience sees them.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mblode/agent-skills --skill presentation-creator -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/presentation-creator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/presentation-creator/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mblode/agent-skills --skill presentation-creator -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/presentation-creator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mblode/agent-skills --skill presentation-creator -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/presentation-creator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mblode/agent-skills presentation-creator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/presentation-creator/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mblode/agent-skills --skill presentation-creator -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mblode/agent-skills --path skills/presentation-creator
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/presentation-creator/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mblode/agent-skills --skill presentation-creator -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- structure a narrative spine and slide copy from raw notes
- build an investor pitch deck following a ten-slide format
- emit ready-to-render decks in Marp markdown, Slidev, or reveal.js
- run an automated QA check for one-message focus and contrast ratios

## Example prompts
- Create a presentation about our architecture update in Marp markdown
- Turn this product brief into an investor pitch deck
- Write slide copy and speaker notes for a live technical talk

# Presentation Creator

Bold, minimal slide decks with a story underneath: spine to final QA.

- **IS:** slide decks end to end: story spine, slide sequence, slide copy, visual system, speaker notes, investor pitch decks, and decks built as a web app; output as Marp markdown (default), Slidev or reveal.js markdown, or a Next.js deck app.
- **IS NOT:** producing or editing the `.pptx`/`.potx` file itself (available presentation/PPTX skill or tool; hand it the finished outline, copy, and notes from this skill), charts inside a slide (external `dataviz` where installed), long-form prose, marketing copy, or a spoken talk script outside slides (`ghostwriter`), or product UI (`ui-design`).

## Workflow

Track this checklist:

```text
Presentation progress:
- [ ] Step 1: Gather context (audience, setting, venue, three messages, output format)
- [ ] Step 2: Write the story spine and the ending (references/story-structure.md)
- [ ] Step 3: Outline the slide sequence (references/outline-structure.md)
- [ ] Step 4: Write slide copy (references/writing-slides.md; pitch decks: references/pitch-decks.md instead)
- [ ] Step 5: Design colour, type, and layout (references/visual-design.md)
- [ ] Step 6: Write speaker notes (references/speaker-notes.md); skip for a deck sent without a presenter
- [ ] Step 7: Emit the deck in the chosen format (references/output-formats.md or references/web-deck.md)
- [ ] Step 8: QA pass, output the slide-by-slide review table
```

### Step 1: Gather context

Establish these, asking only for what the brief does not answer:

- **Audience:** internal (shared context, be direct) vs. external (build credibility, define terms).
- **Setting:** live talk, recorded/async, or a pitch deck sent to investors and read without you.
- **Venue:** a dark room or a large hall takes the dark system; a bright meeting room, daylight, or a deck that doubles as a handout takes a light palette. Ask when unknown, because it decides Step 5.
- **The three messages:** what the audience must remember after the deck.
