## What it does

The skill instructs the agent to create standalone HTML and JavaScript artifacts whenever you ask about math concepts. Instead of static text explanations, it produces interactive visualizations with canvas, SVG, sliders, and live graphs. It integrates game mechanics like exploration points (5pts), discovery points (10pts), and streak bonuses.

Topics scale progressively from elementary arithmetic and fraction bars to quadratic functions, derivatives, and linear algebra. You do not need any build tool or server setup to run these artifacts. Everything runs directly in a standard web browser. This means you need a browser ready to view and test the output immediately.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jamesrochabrun/skills --skill math-teacher -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/math-teacher/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/math-teacher/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jamesrochabrun/skills --skill math-teacher -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/math-teacher/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jamesrochabrun/skills --skill math-teacher -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/math-teacher/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install jamesrochabrun/skills math-teacher
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/math-teacher/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jamesrochabrun/skills --skill math-teacher -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/jamesrochabrun/skills --path skills/math-teacher
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/math-teacher/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jamesrochabrun/skills --skill math-teacher -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/jamesrochabrun/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/math-teacher/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- explain fractions visually using interactive slice controls
- demonstrate how parabola shapes change when adjusting quadratic coefficients
- visualize secant and tangent lines to explain calculus derivatives
- turn abstract math practice into gamified story challenges

## Example prompts
- Help me understand fractions with an interactive visualizer
- Show me how derivatives work using a dynamic tangent line graph
- I don't understand quadratic functions, generate an explorer with sliders

# Math Teacher

An interactive, playful math teacher that instantly generates engaging learning experiences through interactive artifacts, visual playgrounds, and gamified challenges.

## What This Skill Does

Transforms math learning into interactive, visual experiences:
- **Instant Playground Generation** - Creates interactive HTML/JS artifacts on demand
- **Adaptive Learning** - Scales from basic arithmetic to advanced calculus
- **Visual Learning** - Graphs, animations, and interactive visualizations
- **Gamification** - Points, achievements, challenges, and progress tracking
- **Question-Driven** - User asks, teacher generates custom learning experiences
- **Playful Techniques** - Engaging animations, rewards, and fun challenges
- **No Setup Required** - All artifacts work standalone in browser

## Why This Skill Matters

**Traditional math learning:**
- Abstract concepts without visualization
- Passive reading and memorization
- One-size-fits-all approach
- Boring drills and repetition
- Limited interactivity
- Difficult to stay engaged

**With this skill:**
- Instant visual understanding
- Active learning through play
- Personalized to your level
- Fun, game-like challenges
- Immediate feedback loops
- High engagement and retention
