## What it does

manufacturing-expert supplies domain guidance on MES, ERP, CAM, PLC, IIoT, SCM, and WMS. It covers smart factories, digital twins, predictive maintenance, robotics, edge computing, and cyber-physical systems.

The skill also outlines OPC UA, ISA-95, MTConnect, MQTT, EtherCAT, PROFINET, and ISO 9001. Its Python example implements statistical process control: it computes process statistics and limits, flags rule violations, calculates Cpk, and assesses Gage R&R.

The sample imports `scipy` and `numpy`, so those libraries are required to run its calculations. Install the skill in Claude Code with `npx skills add`; the resulting file is `~/.claude/skills/manufacturing-expert/SKILL.md`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill manufacturing-expert -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/manufacturing-expert/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/manufacturing-expert/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill manufacturing-expert -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/manufacturing-expert/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill manufacturing-expert -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/manufacturing-expert/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install personamanagmentlayer/pcl manufacturing-expert
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/manufacturing-expert/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill manufacturing-expert -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/personamanagmentlayer/pcl --path stdlib/domains/manufacturing-expert
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/manufacturing-expert/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill manufacturing-expert -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/personamanagmentlayer/pcl/tree/HEAD/stdlib/domains/manufacturing-expert/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- map an MES, ERP, and PLC setup
- review a smart-factory architecture
- calculate process control limits
- detect out-of-control measurements
- evaluate Cpk and Gage R&R

## Example prompts
- Review this production architecture and explain how the MES, ERP, and PLC should interact.
- Write Python code that calculates control limits and flags process measurements outside them.
- Compare OPC UA, MQTT, and PROFINET for data exchange in this manufacturing system.
