## What it does

Reach for this skill when you need to know who may call what on a Celigo account's MCP servers. An end user is an access record on its own: the person signs in through Celigo OAuth and gets no workspace access. Their permissions stack up from direct grants on the record, group grants, roles pinned to those groups, and capability sets. Effective access is the sum of all four.

The skill lays out the steps in order: list the end users, pick how to grant, set up groups and roles, then read back the compiled access. A grant names one server or acts as a wildcard, and carries capability strings such as `tool:all`, `api:<id>`, `prompt:<id>`, `resource:all` or `pset:<id>`. A bad identifier or a malformed string comes back as a 400. Prompts granted the old way as `tool:<id>` still save, yet effective access will not show them.

The deployed MCP server itself cannot handle end users, groups, roles or grants; its user tools stop at workspace users. So most steps land in the `celigo` CLI or the integrator.io interface. Identity-provider login setup and suspending someone also happen in the UI. The account owner is never an end user: they reach every server without a record and cannot be invited.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add celigo/ai --skill managing-end-users -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/managing-end-users/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/managing-end-users/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add celigo/ai --skill managing-end-users -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/managing-end-users/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add celigo/ai --skill managing-end-users -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/managing-end-users/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install celigo/ai managing-end-users
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/managing-end-users/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add celigo/ai --skill managing-end-users -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/celigo/ai --path skills/managing-end-users
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/managing-end-users/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add celigo/ai --skill managing-end-users -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/celigo/ai/tree/HEAD/skills/managing-end-users/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- give one person access to a single MCP server
- give a team shared access through a group
- reuse one bundle of grants across groups via a role
- trace why someone cannot call a tool on a server
- cut off MCP access while leaving the workspace user alone

## Example prompts
- List the account's end users and their grants.
- Give the new hire access to the `orders` server through the support group.
- Why can't this person call a tool on that server? Show their effective access.

description: Manage Celigo MCP end users -- people who use an account's MCP servers without workspace access -- and the groups, roles, capability sets, and grants that decide which tools, APIs, prompts, and resources each one can call. Covers inviting and revoking, granting per server, groups and roles, what removing a capability set does to grants, compiled effective access, and end users' own connections. Use when giving people or teams access to a Celigo OAuth MCP server, changing or removing that access, or working out why someone can or can't call a tool.

# Managing End Users

An end user is a **person's access record for MCP servers only**: they sign in to the account's MCP servers through Celigo OAuth (routed to the company's identity provider where one is set up) and get no workspace access. What each one may call is the union of their grants -- direct, through groups, through roles, and through capability sets. Concerns when managing end users:

- **Records** -- invite, accept, revoke; identity-provider provisioning (JIT, SCIM); suspending
- **Grants** -- capability strings per MCP server, on a person, a group, or a role
- **Groups and roles** -- shared access, and memberships that are manual or synced from the identity provider
- **Capability sets** -- named bundles of a server's items, granted as one unit
- **Effective access** -- the compiled result, per person or per server
- **End users' own connections** -- the credentials each person supplies where a server asks for them

End users are a separate record type from workspace users. The same person can hold both -- the end-user record then shows `hasWorkspaceShare: true` -- and changing or removing one never touches the other. The **account owner** is never an end user: the owner reaches every server without a record, is never listed, and can't be invited. Only the owner and administrators manage end users, groups and roles.

## How to Run the Steps

This skill names each step by what it reads or changes; the exact calls depend on how you reach the account. Read the one reference that matches your tools -- both follow the step numbers of How to Manage End Users below:

- **Celigo MCP tools** -- [references/mcp.md](references/mcp.md). The deployed server has no end-user, group, role or grant tools, and its user tools cover workspace users only; it can maintain a server's capability sets, so most steps go to the CLI or the integrator.io UI.
- **The `celigo` CLI** -- [references/cli.md](references/cli.md)
