## What it does

The skill fires when you build, change or troubleshoot code that syncs Notion App databases. It does no work itself. Instead it tells the agent to read `node_modules/@notionhq/apps/skills/sync/SKILL.md`, resolved against the App project root, and then follow what that file says.

If the path is empty, the skill points at installing the project dependencies. Still nothing there? Updating `@notionhq/apps` to a release that ships the skill is the next step. Sync edits wait until the SDK skill can be read — otherwise the agent is guessing at the API.

There is no slash command. The description carries `user-invocable: false`, so the agent picks the skill up on its own once your request touches database syncs. Describe the task and let it trigger.

## Requirements
- Works with: Notion

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill sync -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/sync/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/sync/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill sync -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/sync/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill sync -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/sync/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install makenotion/notion-cookbook sync
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/sync/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill sync -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/makenotion/notion-cookbook --path apps/agents/skills/sync
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/sync/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add makenotion/notion-cookbook --skill sync -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/makenotion/notion-cookbook/tree/HEAD/apps/agents/skills/sync/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write a Notion App database sync from scratch
- fix pagination that drops records mid-run
- track down keys that shift between sync runs
- review someone else's sync code before merging
- bump `@notionhq/apps` to a release that includes the SDK skill

## Example prompts
- Write a Notion App database sync with stable keys and resumable pagination.
- Why do records duplicate on the second sync run?
- Review the sync code in `src/sync.ts` before I merge.

# App database syncs

Before creating, modifying, or troubleshooting sync code, read
`node_modules/@notionhq/apps/skills/sync/SKILL.md`.
Resolve this path relative to the App project root.
Follow the instructions in that file.

If the file is missing, install the project dependencies.
If it remains missing, update `@notionhq/apps` to a release that includes the skill.
Do not continue with sync changes until you can read the SDK skill.
```
