## What it does

This skill maps the parts of AgentSys involved in platform support: the marketplace, installer, transforms, adapters, and generated files. It is scoped to maintaining the AgentSys repository, rather than general cross-platform development.

For compatibility work, it points to the relevant checklists and platform documentation; for releases, it directs maintainers to release instructions. Checks include `npm run validate`, `npm test`, and commands that verify generated content. The suggested report tracks validations, issues, outdated docs, and remaining actions.

Changes to `lib/adapter-transforms.js` belong in `agent-sh/agent-core`; the next sync overwrites edits made only in the local copy. The guidance covers differences across Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex, Cursor, and Kiro, including plugin paths and how commands map to skills or prompts.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agent-sh/agentsys --skill maintain-cross-platform -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/maintain-cross-platform/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/maintain-cross-platform/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agent-sh/agentsys --skill maintain-cross-platform -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/maintain-cross-platform/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agent-sh/agentsys --skill maintain-cross-platform -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/maintain-cross-platform/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install agent-sh/agentsys maintain-cross-platform
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/maintain-cross-platform/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agent-sh/agentsys --skill maintain-cross-platform -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/agent-sh/agentsys --path meta/skills/maintain-cross-platform
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/maintain-cross-platform/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agent-sh/agentsys --skill maintain-cross-platform -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/agent-sh/agentsys/tree/HEAD/meta/skills/maintain-cross-platform/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- locate the installer code for a target platform
- check platform compatibility after a change
- run the relevant checks before an AgentSys release
- identify generated files that need refreshing
- report issues and remaining release work

## Example prompts
- Check the cross-platform impact of my AgentSys installer changes and write the findings report.
- Prepare AgentSys for a release and list the checks and unresolved issues.
- Show me where adapter transforms should be changed and what to validate afterward.

# Maintain cross-platform AgentSys

AgentSys installs the agent-sh plugins on Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex CLI, Cursor and Kiro. The plugins live in their own repos; this repo owns the marketplace, the installer, the transforms and the docs. Use this skill to find where a cross-platform concern lives and what to run.

Platform details (config formats, frontmatter, env vars, label limits) are in `checklists/cross-platform-compatibility.md` and `docs/CROSS_PLATFORM.md`; release steps are in `checklists/release.md` and `agent-docs/release.md`. Read them for the current facts instead of relying on memory.

## Where things live

| Concern | Location |
|---------|----------|
| Marketplace, one entry per plugin pinned by tag and commit | `.claude-plugin/marketplace.json`; re-pin with `node scripts/pin-marketplace.js [--dry-run]` (needs `gh`) |
| Installer | `bin/cli.js`: `installForClaude`, `installForOpenCode`, `installForCodex`, `installForCursor`, `installForKiro`. Claude Code installs from the marketplace; the others fetch plugin sources into `~/.agentsys/plugins/<name>` and transform them. |
| Transforms (frontmatter, tools to permissions, plugin-root paths, namespaces) | `lib/adapter-transforms.js`. `lib/` is synced from agent-sh/agent-core, so make the change there; an edit here is overwritten by the next sync. |
| Platform adapters | `adapters/opencode-plugin/` (native OpenCode plugin), `adapters/opencode/`, `adapters/codex/`; `scripts/gen-adapters.js` keeps generated files fresh |
| Dev installs | `node bin/dev-cli.js dev-install [tool]` (`scripts/dev-install.js`) |
| Versions | `package.json` is the source; `npx agentsys-dev bump X.Y.Z` stamps `package-lock.json`, `.claude-plugin/plugin.json`, `marketplace.json` and `site/content.json`. Plugin repos version independently. |
| Generated doc sections | `<!-- GEN:START:... -->` blocks, rewritten by `npx agentsys-dev gen-docs` |

## Platform differences behind most bugs

- Plugin root: `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}` in Claude Code, `${PLUGIN_ROOT}` in OpenCode and Codex; Cursor and Kiro get the install path inlined. Normalize backslashes in `require()` paths (`.replace(/\\/g, '/')`), because a Windows path such as `C:\Users\...` turns into escape sequences.
