## What it does

The skill covers the whole path of an email: planning a campaign, writing content, configuring send settings, running an A/B test, sending, then reading the results. It ships with configuration schemas for campaigns — type, recipients, subject line, preview text, open and click tracking — plus segmentation rules based on last open date, total spend and order count. Tags get applied automatically from events like a form submit or a link click.

Sequences are a separate block. A welcome series with delays from immediate to 10 days, cart recovery with reminders at 1, 24 and 72 hours gated on the cart staying abandoned, and post-purchase mail: order confirmation, shipping notice, review request, cross-sell. For testing there is an A/B setup on subject line with a 20/80 split and a multivariate test across subject, preview text and send time.

Everything runs through the `email-mcp` MCP server and its tools `mailchimp_campaign`, `mailchimp_audience`, `mailchimp_automation` and `mailchimp_reports`. Without that server the calls go nowhere, so wire it up before the first run. Inputs are campaign content, audience lists, automation triggers and segment criteria; outputs are sent campaigns, engagement reports and revenue attribution.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill mailchimp-automation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/mailchimp-automation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/mailchimp-automation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill mailchimp-automation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/mailchimp-automation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill mailchimp-automation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/mailchimp-automation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills mailchimp-automation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/mailchimp-automation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill mailchimp-automation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path mailchimp-automation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/mailchimp-automation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill mailchimp-automation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/mailchimp-automation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a campaign with subject, preview text and click tracking
- split subscribers by recency of opens and total spend
- set up a welcome series with timed delays
- recover abandoned carts with reminders and a discount
- test two subject lines and send the winner to the rest

## Example prompts
- Create a campaign for the main_list audience with a spring sale subject and turn on open tracking
- Build a segment of subscribers who haven't opened in 90 days but opened more than 5 campaigns before
- Set up cart recovery: reminder after an hour, second one after a day, discount at 72 hours
