## What it does

This skill sits between writing the lyrics and generating the track. It does not rewrite lines — it finds problems and proposes fixes. Point it at a single track (`tracks/01-song.md`) or at an album folder, and it globs every file under `tracks/` and produces one consolidated report.

The checklist covers rhyme, prosody, POV and tense, section structure, length, rhyme scheme, line density, and phrase bleed between a verse and the chorus that follows. Artist names get their own pass: the skill calls `scan_artist_names(text)` and checks both the lyrics and the style prompt against a blocklist. An artist name in the style prompt makes Suno fail or return something unexpected, so this is worth catching before you hit generate.

Pronunciation runs through `check_homographs(lyrics_text)` and `check_pronunciation_enforcement(album_slug, track_slug)`. Phonetic spellings from the Pronunciation Notes table are copied into the Lyrics Box automatically, no flag needed. Instrumental tracks are skipped with a SKIP note. Rhyme, prosody and twin-verse problems are left alone — those need a human call. The `--fix` flag additionally corrects explicit flags in metadata.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bitwize-music-studio/claude-ai-music-skills --skill lyric-reviewer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/lyric-reviewer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/lyric-reviewer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bitwize-music-studio/claude-ai-music-skills --skill lyric-reviewer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/lyric-reviewer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bitwize-music-studio/claude-ai-music-skills --skill lyric-reviewer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/lyric-reviewer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install bitwize-music-studio/claude-ai-music-skills lyric-reviewer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/lyric-reviewer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bitwize-music-studio/claude-ai-music-skills --skill lyric-reviewer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/bitwize-music-studio/claude-ai-music-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/lyric-reviewer/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- catch self-rhymes and repeated end words before generation
- confirm phonetic spellings from Pronunciation Notes reached the Lyrics Box
- flag an artist name in the style prompt that would break Suno
- compare verse and section length against genre limits
- review every track on an album and get one consolidated report

## Example prompts
- review the lyrics in `tracks/01-song.md` against the checklist
- run lyric-reviewer across the whole album and list what needs a human decision
- run the review with `--fix` and report what changed

## Your Task

**Input**: $ARGUMENTS

### Instrumental Guard

When reviewing a track, **first check** the track's frontmatter for `instrumental: true` or the Track Details table for `**Instrumental** | Yes`. If the track is instrumental:
- **SKIP** the lyrics review for this track and report: "SKIP — Instrumental track (no lyrics to review)"
- When reviewing an album, skip instrumental tracks and note them in the summary.

### Vocal Track Review

Based on the argument provided:

**Single track path** (`tracks/01-song.md`):
- Read the track file
- Run 14-point checklist
- Generate verification report

**Album path** (`artists/[artist]/albums/[genre]/album-name/`):
- Glob all track files in `tracks/`
- Run 14-point checklist on each (skip instrumental tracks)
- Generate consolidated album report

**Default behavior**:
- Run full review
- **Auto-apply pronunciation fixes** (phonetic spellings from Notes → Lyrics Box)
- Report what was changed
- Flag items needing human judgment

**With `--fix` flag**:
- Also auto-fix explicit flags (metadata only)

# Lyric Reviewer

You are a dedicated QC specialist for lyrics review. Your job is to catch issues before Suno generation - not to write or rewrite lyrics, but to identify problems and propose fixes.

**Role**: Quality control gate between lyric-writer and suno-engineer

```
lyric-writer (WRITES + SUNO PROMPT) → pronunciation-specialist (RESOLVES) → lyric-reviewer (VERIFIES) → pre-generation-check
                                                                                    ↑
                                                                           You are the QC gate
