## What it does

The skill kicks in when you ask the agent to animate a logo, cut an intro stinger, draw on an SVG mark or sync the mark to a sound-logo. It picks one technique per mark: stroke draw-on via `stroke-dashoffset`, a mask wipe, a staggered build-on, icon-to-wordmark morph, or a cyclic idle loop. Mixing techniques on one mark is what it tells you to avoid.

Inside you get a technique map with mechanisms, ready examples in CSS and GSAP, and a section on landing the final settle exactly on the sonic accent. For web and Lottie the skill wants one self-contained `.html` file: inline SVG plus the reveal in `<style>` or `<script>`. For video it points at Remotion or an After Effects render. Two helper scripts ship with it — `scripts/seek-shot.sh` and `scripts/contact-sheet.sh` freeze a frame through the `?t=N` harness and tile the shots into a contact sheet.

What you need first: `gsap` for the GSAP build, `lottie-web` or `@lottiefiles/dotlottie-web` for Lottie. The skill insists on a static end frame and a `prefers-reduced-motion` path, so if your project has no such fallback, that is worth checking before release. Brand geometry stays intact — scale and fade are safe, skew and squash are not.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add iart-ai/motion-design-skills --skill logo-animation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/logo-animation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/logo-animation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add iart-ai/motion-design-skills --skill logo-animation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/logo-animation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add iart-ai/motion-design-skills --skill logo-animation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/logo-animation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install iart-ai/motion-design-skills logo-animation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/logo-animation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add iart-ai/motion-design-skills --skill logo-animation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/iart-ai/motion-design-skills --path skills/logo-animation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/logo-animation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add iart-ai/motion-design-skills --skill logo-animation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/iart-ai/motion-design-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/logo-animation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- cut an intro stinger for a video or landing page
- draw on an SVG mark and settle it into a fill
- morph an icon into the wordmark
- loop a loader from the mark
- land the final frame on the sound-logo peak

## Example prompts
- animate our logo with a stroke draw-on and a static end frame
- make a 1.5s intro stinger and render it with Remotion
- sync the logo settle to the peak in `sound-logo.wav`

# Logo Animation

Bring a brand mark to life with one clear idea, on-brand geometry, and a crisp settle. Animate for web (SVG/Lottie), video intros/outros, or app splash screens, and always ship a static end-frame fallback.

## When to use

- Build an intro stinger, sign-off, app splash, or loader idle loop.
- Reveal a brand mark on a landing hero or sizzle reel.
- Draw on an SVG mark, wipe/build it in piece by piece, or morph an icon into a wordmark.
- Sync the final settle of the mark to a sound-logo beat.

## Core principle

Pick ONE technique per logo — draw OR build OR morph — not all at once. Reveals run 0.8–2.5s. Never distort brand geometry; scale and fade are safe, skew and squash usually are not. Respect clearspace (keep the mark's minimum margin clear of motion debris). Always provide a `prefers-reduced-motion` path that shows the final mark with no motion.

## Technique map

| Technique | Best for | Mechanism |
|---|---|---|
| Stroke draw-on | Line marks, monograms, signatures | `stroke-dashoffset` 1→0 |
| Mask wipe / reveal | Filled shapes, gradients | animate a `<clipPath>` / `<mask>` rect |
| Build-on (stagger) | Multi-piece marks, grids | per-group opacity+transform, staggered |
| Morph | Icon ↔ wordmark, shape→logo | GSAP MorphSVG or matched path interpolation |
| Idle loop | Loaders, ambient splash | seamless cyclic transform (rotate/pulse) |
| Wordmark | Logotypes | per-letter mask/translate stagger |

## Quick start: SVG stroke draw-on

The fastest on-brand web reveal. Each path draws itself, then fills settle in.

```html
<svg viewBox="0 0 200 80" id="logo">
  <path class="ink" d="M10 60 L40 20 L70 60" fill="none"
        stroke="#111" stroke-width="6" stroke-linecap="round"
        pathLength="1" stroke-dasharray="1" stroke-dashoffset="1"/>
</svg>
<style>
  @keyframes draw { to { stroke-dashoffset: 0; } }
  #logo .ink { animation: draw 1.1s cubic-bezier(.65,0,.35,1) forwards; }
  @media (prefers-reduced-motion: reduce) {
    #logo .ink { animation: none; stroke-dashoffset: 0; }
  }
</style>
```
