## What it does

The skill accepts a topic or draft idea and produces two ready-to-publish LinkedIn posts using complementary formats. Before drafting, the agent must inspect the reference files containing post structures and viral examples. If `FOUNDER_CONTEXT.md` exists in the project root, the skill incorporates domain vocabulary, audience problems, and company background.

Format selection happens automatically based on the subject. A personal setback maps to a narrative format, step-by-step guides become actionable blueprints, and strong industry opinions turn into hot takes. The first lines are written specifically to keep readers engaged before the platform cutoff.

Execution strictly requires the reference files in the repository and stops if they cannot be read. Running the skill without a founder context file produces generic tone, so keeping background notes in your repository pays off immediately.

## Requirements
- Works with: LinkedIn

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ognjengt/founder-skills --skill linkedin-writer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/linkedin-writer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/linkedin-writer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ognjengt/founder-skills --skill linkedin-writer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/linkedin-writer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ognjengt/founder-skills --skill linkedin-writer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/linkedin-writer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install ognjengt/founder-skills linkedin-writer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/linkedin-writer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ognjengt/founder-skills --skill linkedin-writer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/ognjengt/founder-skills --path skills/linkedin-writer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/linkedin-writer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ognjengt/founder-skills --skill linkedin-writer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/ognjengt/founder-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/linkedin-writer/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- generate two distinct LinkedIn post options for any founder topic
- match posting structures to specific topics like case studies or lessons
- adapt copy to company terminology using founder context notes
- format post hooks to capture attention before the cutoff point

## Example prompts
- Write a LinkedIn post about why we decided to ditch our legacy microservices
- Draft a LinkedIn update on the hardest lessons learned while scaling customer support

# LinkedIn Writer

## Purpose
Generate 2 viral LinkedIn posts in different proven formats, matched to the founder's voice, using battle-tested templates and patterns that drive engagement on LinkedIn.

---

## Execution Logic

**Check $ARGUMENTS first to determine execution mode:**

### If $ARGUMENTS is empty or not provided:
Respond with:
"linkedin-writer loaded, proceed with your topic or idea"

Then wait for the user to provide their requirements in the next message.

### If $ARGUMENTS contains content:
Proceed immediately to Task Execution (skip the "loaded" message).

---

## Task Execution

When user requirements are available (either from initial $ARGUMENTS or follow-up message):

### 1. MANDATORY: Read Reference Files FIRST
**BLOCKING REQUIREMENT — DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP**

Before doing ANYTHING else, you MUST use the Read tool to read ALL reference files. This is non-negotiable:

```
Read: ./references/linkedin-formats.md
Read: ./references/linkedin-posts.md
```

**What you will find:**
- **linkedin-formats.md**: 7 proven LinkedIn post formats with structure templates, psychology, rules, and when-to-use matching logic
- **linkedin-posts.md**: 8+ proven viral LinkedIn posts organized by format type — the example and voice library

**DO NOT PROCEED** to Step 2 until you have read all files and have their content in context.

### 2. Check for Business Context
Check if `FOUNDER_CONTEXT.md` exists in the project root.
- **If it exists:** Read it and use the business context to personalize output (industry terminology, audience pain points, brand voice, company name, products, achievements).
- **If it doesn't exist:** Proceed using defaults from "Defaults & Assumptions."

### 3. Analyze Input & Auto-Select Formats
From the user's requirements, extract:
- **Topic/idea** — What they want to post about
- **Goal** — What they want the post to achieve (engagement, authority, leads, thought leadership)
- **Any specific format preference** — If they mentioned a format type

**Format Auto-Selection Logic:**

If the user specified a format → use that format for one post, auto-select the best complementary format for the second.

If the user did NOT specify a format, auto-select 2 different formats based on the topic:

| If the topic involves... | Best format match |
|---|---|
| Multiple tips, lessons, mistakes, or advice points | **Lessons Learned** |
| A complete process, roadmap, or "how to achieve X" | **Actionable Blueprint** |
| A personal experience, failure, setback, or pivotal moment | **Personal Story** |
