## What it does

The skill maps who actually reads LinkedIn. Engineering managers show up for leadership and team topics, CTOs and VPs of Engineering for strategy, DevRel people for content tactics. A second table sorts scenarios by platform: enterprise sales, hiring developers and partnerships belong on LinkedIn, while open source and fast technical arguments belong on Twitter.

Post structure follows a fixed shape — hook, short context, three to five bullets, a personal takeaway, a closing question, three to five hashtags. The examples walk through a MongoDB to PostgreSQL migration, a claim that small teams do not need Kubernetes, and scaling to 10,000 API calls per second. Formatting advice covers length of 1,200–1,500 characters, a line break every sentence or two, and PDF carousels of 5–10 slides.

Before writing, the skill suggests checking `.agents/developer-audience-context.md` if the project has one, then reviewing your own profile, connections and posting history. LinkedIn pushes shared links down in the feed, which matters if the plan is to drive traffic to an external blog. The text stops partway through the comparison of company pages and personal profiles, so that section ends without a conclusion.

## Requirements
- Works with: LinkedIn

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jonathimer/devmarketing-skills --skill linkedin-technical -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/linkedin-technical/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/linkedin-technical/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jonathimer/devmarketing-skills --skill linkedin-technical -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/linkedin-technical/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jonathimer/devmarketing-skills --skill linkedin-technical -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/linkedin-technical/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install jonathimer/devmarketing-skills linkedin-technical
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/linkedin-technical/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jonathimer/devmarketing-skills --skill linkedin-technical -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/jonathimer/devmarketing-skills --path skills/linkedin-technical
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/linkedin-technical/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jonathimer/devmarketing-skills --skill linkedin-technical -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/jonathimer/devmarketing-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/linkedin-technical/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write a LinkedIn post for engineering managers without vague phrasing
- pick between LinkedIn and Twitter for a specific goal
- lay out a post with a hook and a closing question
- judge which content formats perform in the feed
- split publishing between a personal profile and a company page

## Example prompts
- Write a LinkedIn post about our MongoDB to PostgreSQL migration for engineering managers
- Help me decide whether to promote our open source tool on LinkedIn or Twitter
- Outline a technical LinkedIn post with a hook and a question at the end

# LinkedIn for Technical Audiences

LinkedIn is where B2B developer tools win deals. This skill covers technical content that works on LinkedIn, reaching engineering managers and decision-makers, and knowing when LinkedIn beats Twitter.

---

## Before You Start

1. Read `.agents/developer-audience-context.md` if it exists
2. Assess your LinkedIn presence (profile, connections, content history)
3. Understand: LinkedIn rewards different content than developer Twitter

---

## When LinkedIn Beats Twitter

### LinkedIn's Unique Value

| Factor | LinkedIn advantage |
|--------|-------------------|

| Technical hot takes | Twitter thrives on debate |

---

## Understanding LinkedIn's Audience

### Who's Actually Active
