## What it does

The skill runs a team of six specialized agents that turn course goals into ready-to-teach class packages. One agent designs the timing arc, another drafts lecture prose with worked examples, while others generate slide outlines, discussion guides, teaching cases, and active-learning sheets adapted to room constraints.

Input data is pulled from `course_passport.yaml` or through an intake dialogue covering class size, delivery mode, and target outcomes. Factual claims the system cannot verify are tagged with `[VERIFY]`, making manual subject checks mandatory before class.

Graded assessments fall outside this skill. If points or formal rubrics attach to an exercise, the workflow hands off to `assessment-architect` instead.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add YujxZJCN/teaching-skills --skill lesson-builder -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/lesson-builder/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/lesson-builder/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add YujxZJCN/teaching-skills --skill lesson-builder -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/lesson-builder/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add YujxZJCN/teaching-skills --skill lesson-builder -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/lesson-builder/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install YujxZJCN/teaching-skills lesson-builder
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/lesson-builder/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add YujxZJCN/teaching-skills --skill lesson-builder -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/YujxZJCN/teaching-skills --path lesson-builder
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/lesson-builder/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add YujxZJCN/teaching-skills --skill lesson-builder -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- structure a timed college lecture arc with active-learning breaks
- draft prose lecture notes complete with step-by-step examples
- design a flipped classroom session with pre-class specs
- produce a teaching case study with a classroom discussion plan

## Example prompts
- Build my Week 5 class on hash tables — 80 students, 75 minutes
- I need an in-class activity for recursion that works with 120 students in fixed seating
- Turn Week 9 into a flipped session: video spec + in-class problem session

# Lesson Builder — Class-Meeting Materials Team

Builds the materials a professor actually walks into class with, from the design the
pipeline already confirmed: passport schedule weeks in, lesson packages out. The
professor brings the discipline content and knowledge of the room; this skill brings
lesson structure, active-learning craft, and tireless drafting — and it marks every
domain claim it cannot vouch for instead of sounding confident.

> **Prime rule:** a lesson serves the week's outcomes, not the other way around. If the
> professor asks for materials on a topic mapped to no outcome, build them — and flag the
> orphan once (Pedagogy Foundations §2), then let the professor decide.

## Quick Start

```
Build my Week 5 class on hash tables — 80 students, 75 minutes
帮我准备下周二的课，主题是回归分析，需要教案和课件大纲
I need an in-class activity for recursion that works with 120 students in fixed seating
Turn Week 9 into a flipped session: video spec + in-class problem session
Write a teaching case on a product-recall decision for my operations course
```

## Modes

| Mode | Trigger intent | Output |
|------|---------------|--------|
| `full` | "Prepare my class on X" / "build Week N" for one meeting | Complete package: lesson plan + lecture notes + slide outline + activity sheets |
| `lecture-notes` | "Write lecture notes / 讲稿 on…" | Full prose lecture notes with worked examples and speaker asides |
| `slides-outline` | "Make slides for…" | Slide-by-slide outline (assertion titles, figure specs) — not finished slides |
| `activities` | "I need an activity / make this interactive" | Active-learning activity design(s) with sheets and instructor logistics |
| `case-study` | "Write a teaching case on…" | Teaching case + teaching notes (discussion arc, board plan) |
| `discussion-guide` | "Discussion questions for…" / seminar prep | Question ladder + facilitation guide + async variant |
| `flipped` | "Flip this class" / pre-class video + in-class work | Pre-class material spec + in-class application session plan |
