## What it does

The skill walks through the whole lead magnet build. You pick a format first: checklist, template, calculator, mini-course, whitepaper or swipe file. Each type comes with a structure, headline formulas, and notes on effort and landing page conversion.

Then it lays out the landing page: a hero section with the opt-in form, a "what's inside" list, testimonials, an author block and an FAQ. The email gate gets its own section — an HTML form, a hidden field carrying the lead magnet name, and integration options for providers such as Mailchimp.

The hands-on part is code. The skill prints HTML for the form and page sections, so you need some comfort with markup or a developer nearby. For calculators it suggests a separate HTML/JS page and gating only the result, not the tool itself.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill lead-magnet -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/lead-magnet/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/lead-magnet/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill lead-magnet -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/lead-magnet/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill lead-magnet -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/lead-magnet/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills lead-magnet
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/lead-magnet/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill lead-magnet -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**

gemini skills install https://github.com/OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --path skills/lead-magnet
```
### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/lead-magnet/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
### OpenCode
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill lead-magnet -a opencode
```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills
## When to use it
- pick a lead magnet format that fits the topic
- draft a headline and structure for a checklist or template
- build a landing page with an opt-in form
- wire an email gate to a mailing provider
- plan a multi-email mini-course
## Example prompts
- Design a lead magnet as a website launch checklist with a headline and 15 items
- Build a landing page for a whitepaper: hero, opt-in form, what's inside, FAQ
- Outline a 5-day email mini-course with a topic for each email
## 1. Lead Magnet Types
### Checklists
**Best for:** Actionable topics, step-by-step processes
**Effort to create:** Low (1-2 hours)
**Conversion rate:** High (30-50% on dedicated landing pages)
Template structure:
```
Title: The Complete [Topic] Checklist

[ ] Step 1: [Action item]
    Why: [Brief explanation]
    Tool: [Recommended tool if applicable]

[ ] Step 2: [Action item]
    ...

[ ] Step 3: [Action item]
    ...

[Continue for 10-25 items]

Bonus: [Extra tip or resource link]
```
Example titles:
- "The 47-Point Website Launch Checklist"
- "Pre-Publish Blog Post Checklist (Never Miss a Step)"
- "The Complete SEO Audit Checklist for 2025"
### Templates
**Best for:** Saving time, providing structure
**Effort to create:** Medium (2-4 hours)
**Conversion rate:** Very high (35-60%)
Types of templates:
- Spreadsheet templates (Google Sheets, Excel)
- Document templates (Google Docs, Notion)
- Design templates (Canva, Figma)
- Code templates (GitHub repos, code snippets)
- Email templates (copy-paste ready)
Template packaging:
```
[Template Name]

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Make a copy of this template (File > Make a Copy)
2. [Customization step 1]
3. [Customization step 2]

SECTIONS
- Section 1: [Purpose]
- Section 2: [Purpose]
- Section 3: [Purpose]

EXAMPLE (filled in)
[Show one complete example so users understand how to use it]
```
### Calculators / Interactive Tools
**Best for:** Quantifiable outcomes, ROI justification
**Effort to create:** High (1-2 weeks with a developer)
**Conversion rate:** Very high (40-60%)
Calculator ideas:
- ROI calculator for your product
- Cost savings estimator
- "How much are you losing?" audit tool
- Salary/pricing benchmark calculator
- Carbon footprint / impact calculator
Implementation notes:
- Can be built as a simple HTML/JS page
- Gate the results (not the calculator itself) behind email
- Show a preview of results, require email for full report
- Save results as a PDF sent to their email
### Mini-Courses (Email or Video)
**Best for:** Complex topics, building authority, nurture sequences
**Effort to create:** High (1-2 weeks)
**Conversion rate:** Medium-high (25-40%)
Structure:
```
Course: [Title] -- [X]-Day [Topic] Course

Day 1: [Foundation topic]
  - Email subject: "[Course Name] Day 1: [Topic]"
  - Content: [500-800 words or 5-10 min video]
  - Action item: [Homework]
