## What it does

The skill handles one lever: timing. It scans industry-event and conference cycles, overlays the competitor launch calendar, and returns a comparison table of candidate windows showing where the conflict, the tailwind and the risk sit. It also makes the launch-week versus rolling-release call.

Three connectors do the pulling: `scripts/connectors/producthunt.py` for competitor launch history, `scripts/connectors/hn.py` for community rhythm, and `scripts/connectors/gdelt.py` for news pulse around candidate dates. All are keyless or free-key. Product Hunt needs a developer token, and its non-commercial API terms mean business use requires approval plus attribution. If a connector is unavailable, you paste the data yourself.

The skill never writes the launch registry directly. It submits the chosen window, buffer and embargo facts as a candidate through `operation: propose`, and `launch-registry` turns them into the canonical record. Every timing input carries a Measured, User-provided or Estimated label — the store-review buffer is Estimated, because it is a guess rather than a fact.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-window-planner -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/launch-window-planner/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/launch-window-planner/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-window-planner -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/launch-window-planner/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-window-planner -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/launch-window-planner/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills launch-window-planner
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/launch-window-planner/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-window-planner -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path launch/research/launch-window-planner
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/launch-window-planner/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-window-planner -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- compare two or three launch windows by conflict and risk
- overlay the competitor launch calendar on release dates
- pad the schedule for store-review latency
- choose between launch-week and rolling release
- set the embargo lift moment with a timezone

## Example prompts
- Pick a launch window for [product] in [quarter]. Constraints: team availability and partner commitments.
- Map the competitor launch calendar and industry events around [candidate date] — should we move?
- Define the embargo window for [launch]: lift moment, timezone, and who is committed to it.
