## What it does

The skill classifies a release into one of three tiers: flagship all-channel Tier 1, targeted Tier 2, or changelog-level Tier 3. It also labels the release type, covering new products, standalone features, relaunches, or co-marketing partnerships. This sizing step sets channel scope and prevents wasting team capacity on minor updates.

Output includes an effort calibration matrix, D0/W1/M1 target indicators, and a timeline skeleton spanning T-8w to T+4w. The generated risk register pairs likelihood with blast radius, assignees, and rollback criteria. Target numbers are tagged as Estimated or User-provided, drawing from previous launch logs and analytics exports.

The tool relies on keyless operations and never writes to `memory/launch-registry/` directly, submitting proposed entries through `registry-events.py`. It deliberately leaves launch dates to `launch-window-planner`, so attempting to schedule launch timing here will fail.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-tier-planner -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/launch-tier-planner/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/launch-tier-planner/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-tier-planner -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/launch-tier-planner/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-tier-planner -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/launch-tier-planner/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills launch-tier-planner
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/launch-tier-planner/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-tier-planner -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path launch/research/launch-tier-planner
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/launch-tier-planner/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill launch-tier-planner -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- classify releases into Tier 1, 2, or 3 scopes
- build a launch risk register with clear rollback criteria
- calculate D0, W1, and M1 performance targets
- split co-marketing duties for partner launches
- outline a release timeline from T-8w to T+4w

## Example prompts
- How big should the launch of our new API be? Audience: existing B2B clients. Revenue link: indirect.
- Declare tier and type for the mobile checkout update, build the risk register with kill criteria, and sketch a T-8w to T+4w timeline.
- This is a partnership launch with Acme: set the tier, split co-marketing responsibilities, and set D0, W1, and M1 targets.
