## What it does

This skill guides the setup of LangChain4j starters in Spring Boot projects. It provides integration patterns for starter dependencies at version 1.8.0, configuration properties in YAML or properties files, and declarative `@AiService` interfaces.

Inside, you get configuration templates for manual `@Bean` definitions, streaming responses using Project Reactor `Flux`, and conversational memory via `@MemoryId`. It also covers vector store setup using `PgVectorEmbeddingStore` alongside custom Spring `@Component` tools annotated with `@Tool`.

If your declarative services fail to inject, you must add `dev.langchain4j.service.spring` to your `@ComponentScan`. Spring context needs that package scanned to discover generated proxy beans.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit --skill langchain4j-spring-boot-integration -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/langchain4j-spring-boot-integration/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/langchain4j-spring-boot-integration/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit --skill langchain4j-spring-boot-integration -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/langchain4j-spring-boot-integration/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit --skill langchain4j-spring-boot-integration -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/langchain4j-spring-boot-integration/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit langchain4j-spring-boot-integration
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/langchain4j-spring-boot-integration/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit --skill langchain4j-spring-boot-integration -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit --path plugins/developer-kit-java/skills/langchain4j-spring-boot-integration
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/langchain4j-spring-boot-integration/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add giuseppe-trisciuoglio/developer-kit --skill langchain4j-spring-boot-integration -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- add LangChain4j starter dependencies to pom.xml
- declare AI services using the @AiService annotation
- set up RAG pipelines with PgVectorEmbeddingStore
- expose Spring components as LLM tools using @Tool

## Example prompts
- Create a declarative CustomerSupportAssistant interface with @AiService and OpenAI properties
- Set up a PgVectorEmbeddingStore bean and an OpenAiEmbeddingModel in a Spring configuration class
- Build a Spring component with @Tool annotations to provide calculator functions to an agent

# LangChain4j Spring Boot Integration

Integrate LangChain4j with Spring Boot using declarative AI Services, auto-configuration, and Spring Boot starters. Configure AI model beans, set up chat memory, implement RAG pipelines with Spring Data, and build production-ready AI applications.

## When to Use

Use this skill when:
- Integrating LangChain4j into existing Spring Boot applications
- Building AI-powered microservices with Spring Boot
- Configuring AI model beans with `@Bean` annotations
- Setting up auto-configuration for AI models and services
- Creating declarative AI Services with Spring dependency injection
- Implementing RAG systems with Spring Data integrations
- Setting up chat memory with Spring context management
- Configuring multiple AI providers (OpenAI, Azure, Ollama, Anthropic)
- Building production-ready AI applications with Spring Boot

## Overview

LangChain4j Spring Boot integration provides declarative AI Services through Spring Boot starters, enabling automatic configuration of AI components based on properties. Combine Spring dependency injection with LangChain4j's AI capabilities using interface-based definitions with annotations.

## Instructions

### 1. Add Dependencies

```xml
<!-- Core LangChain4j Spring Boot Starter -->
<dependency>
    <groupId>dev.langchain4j</groupId>
    <artifactId>langchain4j-spring-boot-starter</artifactId>
    <version>1.8.0</version>
</dependency>
<!-- OpenAI Spring Boot Starter -->
<dependency>
    <groupId>dev.langchain4j</groupId>
    <artifactId>langchain4j-open-ai-spring-boot-starter</artifactId>
    <version>1.8.0</version>
</dependency>
```

### 2. Configure Application Properties

```properties
# application.properties
langchain4j.open-ai.chat-model.api-key=${OPENAI_API_KEY}
langchain4j.open-ai.chat-model.model-name=gpt-4o-mini
langchain4j.open-ai.chat-model.temperature=0.7
