## What it does

The skill walks your agent through email planning. It starts with project context: reads a root `contextus.md` when one exists and loads only the modules this task needs. Then it pins down the goal — retention, conversion, brand reach, or SEO synergy — and the content mix.

Inside are tables and a planning framework. EDM versus Newsletter: one for promotions and campaigns, the other for steady value. Five content types cover onboarding, campaign, announcement, feature updates, and blog. A separate section handles deliverability — a marketing subdomain, then SPF, DKIM, and DMARC in that order, plus the Gmail and Yahoo bulk sender rules at 5,000+ messages a day. There is also a funnel split for article delivery (Retention, ToFu, MoFu) and measurement through GA4 and GSC.

One limit matters up front: the Gmail and Yahoo bulk sender rules kick in at 5,000+ emails a day, and all three authentication protocols are required there. Below that threshold some of it is less urgent, but keeping marketing on a subdomain still protects transactional mail on your main domain. For the signup form itself, the skill points you to `newsletter-signup-generator`.

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill email-marketing -a codex
## When to use it
- separate EDM from newsletter by goal and funnel stage
- set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC in the right order
- build a 5-7 email welcome series after signup
- keep complaint rate under 0.3% and clean the list
- tie article sends to SEO traffic growth
## Example prompts
- Plan email marketing for our SaaS: goal is retention, give me a content mix across the five email types
- Check our deliverability setup: marketing runs on mail.example.com, walk me through SPF, DKIM and DMARC
- Suggest a sending cadence and KPIs for open rate, click rate and GA4 email traffic
# Channels: Email Marketing
Guides email marketing strategy for AI/SaaS products. Email ROI ~$36 per dollar spent; open/click rates typically higher than social. Covers EDM vs Newsletter, five content types, deliverability (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and SEO synergy via article delivery.
**When invoking**: On **first use**, if helpful, open with 1-2 sentences on what this skill covers and why it matters, then provide the main output. On **subsequent use** or when the user asks to skip, go directly to the main output.
## Initial Assessment
**Project context:** Read root `contextus.md` when present and load only the modules relevant to this task. Without Contextus, use available project material or user-provided facts and ask for missing information; do not create a parallel context system.
Identify:
1. **Goal**: Retention, conversion, brand reach, or SEO synergy
2. **Content mix**: Onboarding, campaign, announcement, features, newsletter
3. **List size**: Bulk sender rules (5,000+/day) require Gmail/Yahoo compliance
## EDM vs Newsletter
| Type | Purpose | Use |
|------|---------|-----|
| **EDM** | Direct marketing; conversion-focused | Promotions, campaigns, announcements; bulk sends |
| **Newsletter** | Ongoing value; relationship | Industry insights, curated articles; regular cadence |
**Combine both**: EDM for push; Newsletter for nurture. Cover different stages and goals.
## Five Content Types
| Type | Use |
|------|-----|
| **Onboarding** | Welcome + first-use guidance; 5-7 day sequence; behavior-triggered; drive "Aha!" moment |
| **Campaign** | Promotions, limited-time; conversion or participation |
| **Announcement** | Product launch, major update; one-time important notice |
| **Features update** | New features, improvements; help users adopt |
| **Blog/Newsletter** | Curated articles, industry insights; sustained touch |
## User Best Practices
