## What it does

The skill lays out how to call Klaviyo from an app: separate base URLs for server-side and client-side, auth with a private key, the `revision` header that pins the API version, and what the key scopes allow. Then come working examples in TypeScript and Python — upserting a profile, looking one up by email or id, patching custom properties such as last purchase date and order count.

Events get their own section. Four e-commerce ones are covered: product view, add to cart, started checkout, placed order. Each carries its own properties — product id, price, categories, cart contents — and the `value` field handles revenue. A `unique_id` keeps duplicates out.

You need a Klaviyo private API key in the `KLAVIYO_PRIVATE_KEY` environment variable. Three integration paths are shown: the `klaviyo-api` package for Node.js, the `klaviyo-api` package for Python, and plain HTTP requests with `fetch` for anything else. Client-side calls use a 6-character public key passed as `company_id` — keep the private key off the client, or it ends up in the browser.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill klaviyo -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/klaviyo/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/klaviyo/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill klaviyo -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/klaviyo/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill klaviyo -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/klaviyo/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alinaqi/maggy klaviyo
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/klaviyo/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill klaviyo -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy --path skills/klaviyo
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/klaviyo/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill klaviyo -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy/tree/HEAD/skills/klaviyo/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create a customer profile in Klaviyo from a store backend
- look up a profile by email or id
- fire product view and add to cart events
- pass order revenue through the value field
- deduplicate events with unique_id

## Example prompts
- Add Placed Order event tracking to my order handler with Klaviyo
- Write a profile upsert function with a custom plan property
- Wrap the Klaviyo API with the revision header
