# kill-argument

Two fresh reviewers take turns on your paper: one writes the strongest possible rejection, the other defends it point by point. Run it before submitting a theory paper.

## What it does

The skill opens two separate review threads. The first reviewer writes a coherent ~200-word rejection — one argument strong enough to sway an area chair, not a list of complaints. The second reviewer breaks that memo into 3–7 atomic points and marks each one as answered by the current text, partially answered, or still unresolved.

Every thread is a fresh `mcp__codex__codex` call with clean context. No earlier review summary, no fix list, no author explanation reaches either prompt. Results land in `KILL_ARGUMENT.md` and `KILL_ARGUMENT.json` inside the paper directory, and with `RENDER_HTML` on, the markdown is rendered to HTML through the full review gate.

The skill is verdict-bearing, so wrapping it in `/loop`, `/schedule` or `CronCreate` buys you nothing: the attack only changes when the paper changes. Schedule the external wait before it and run the exercise once ahead of submission. It earns its keep on theory papers with a stack of theorem-class environments; for empirical work without theorems, `/research-review` is the better fit.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill kill-argument -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/kill-argument/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/kill-argument/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill kill-argument -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/kill-argument/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill kill-argument -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/kill-argument/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep kill-argument
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/kill-argument/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill kill-argument -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/kill-argument
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/kill-argument/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill kill-argument -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/kill-argument/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write the single most damaging rejection paragraph
- split a rejection into atomic points and check each one
- prepare a rebuttal to reviewer 2 in advance
- catch a title that oversells the actual theorem
- separate load-bearing objections from cosmetic ones

## Example prompts
- /kill-argument papers/my-theory-paper
- run kill argument on the paper directory and list what's still unresolved
- do an adversarial review of the paper before I submit

# Kill Argument Exercise: Adversarial Attack-Defense Review

> **Before each reviewer slot**, follow [Selectable Reviewers](../shared-references/reviewer-backends.md):
> resolve invocation → `.aris/reviewer.json` → Claude Code default (Codex MCP)
> with `reviewer_route.py` through the canonical helper resolver, preserving this
> slot's tier, fresh contexts, source/image inputs and deterministic gates.
> Codex examples/pins below apply only to `backend=codex`; other routes use their
> own first-call/reply contract. Save the route and actual returned identity;
> unavailable selections are `REVIEW_UNAVAILABLE`. Classify acceptance from actual
> families/completion/scope. Forward invocation reviewer/model/effort overrides
> to reviewer-bearing children. Generation workers are unchanged.

> 🔒 **Do not wrap this skill in `/loop`, `/schedule`, or `CronCreate`.** It is
> verdict-bearing — it produces an adversarial accept/reject verdict (attack →
> adjudication). Re-firing it on a wall-clock timer adds no new signal (the
> attack changes only when the *paper* changes). Schedule the *external wait
> that precedes it* — draft stable → then run this **once** before submission.
> See
> [`shared-references/external-cadence.md`](../shared-references/external-cadence.md).
