## What it does

The skill covers the `Keychron-Keyboards-Hardware-Design` repository and helps you navigate it: locating a model, understanding the folder layout and file formats, running helper scripts. It ships guides on formats, getting started, 3D printing, inventory and licensing, plus Python examples — scanning the repo for an inventory, listing DXF plates, looking up one model's files, exporting a CSV.

Files are grouped by series: Q, Q Pro, Q HE, K Pro, K Max, K HE, L, V Max, P HE, and mice M1–M7, G1, G2. Use `.stp`/`.step` for 3D solids, `.dxf` and `.dwg` for plates and cutouts, `.pdf` for dimensioned drawings. You can clone the whole repo or use sparse checkout to pull a single model or series and save bandwidth.

The license is source-available: personal, educational and non-commercial use. Commercial use is prohibited outright. If you plan to sell printed parts or ship these models inside a product, this skill won't help — the restriction lives in the repository itself.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill keychron-keyboards-hardware-design -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill keychron-keyboards-hardware-design -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill keychron-keyboards-hardware-design -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install reason-machines/trending-skills keychron-keyboards-hardware-design
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill keychron-keyboards-hardware-design -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills --path skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill keychron-keyboards-hardware-design -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/keychron-keyboards-hardware-design/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- locate CAD files for a specific Keychron keyboard model
- export a full file listing to CSV
- pick out DXF plates for laser cutting
- clone just one series without downloading everything
- figure out which formats work for 3D printing

## Example prompts
- Find all files for the Q8 model in the Keychron repo
- Build an inventory of every CAD file and save it to `inventory.json`
- List the DXF plates available for laser cutting
