## What it does

This skill turns a destination, dates, budget, and must-do list into a structured travel planner. It lays out themed days, groups stops by location, and includes transit, meals, costs, booking notes, and recovery time where the trip frame calls for it.

The first output is `content_and_design.md`, which defines the planner sections, scan levels, and visual direction. The `k2f` skill then uses that blueprint to build a `.K2F` package, verify it, and export a PDF or another print-ready format. The core `k2f` skill must be installed before this workflow can reach export.

The workflow audits missing details and marks them as `NEEDS USER INPUT`. It does not invent prices, opening hours, or visa requirements; uncertain details get `verify before travel` placeholders. Budget lines are tied back to itinerary activities or stated assumptions.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-travel-planner -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/k2f-travel-planner/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/k2f-travel-planner/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-travel-planner -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/k2f-travel-planner/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-travel-planner -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/k2f-travel-planner/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install suzheng/k2f k2f-travel-planner
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/k2f-travel-planner/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-travel-planner -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/suzheng/k2f --path skills/personal/k2f-travel-planner
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/k2f-travel-planner/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-travel-planner -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- turn trip constraints into a day-by-day itinerary
- roll up lodging, transport, food, and activity costs
- build a packing list from climate and planned activities
- organize bookings and tasks before departure

## Example prompts
- Create a printable travel planner from my destination, dates, budget, and must-do list.
- Turn my bookings and trip notes into `content_and_design.md` with themed days and a reconciled budget.
- Build the planner as a `.K2F` package, verify it, and export a PDF.

# K2F Travel Planner — AI-Native Aesthetic Design

## Purpose

Teach agents to author **travel planners** in `content_and_design.md`: trip content, information layering, and design intent so the result reads like a field guide—not a chat log or destination encyclopedia.

## Built on K2F

This skill produces travel planners as `.K2F` packages. Follow the **k2f** skill for authoring, pack/verify, and export. K2F keeps agents on trip semantics and visual rhythm while the engine handles layout and typography.

Before you build, install the core skill: `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`.

## When to Use

- Turning trip constraints into a **shareable planner** (couple, family, or group) with days, costs, and checklists in one document.
- Merging user notes, bookings, and research into one coherent structure.
- **Not** for destination-only chat or live expense tracking unless the deliverable is still a planner blueprint.

## Workflow

### Step 1. Generate the content_and_design.md

One blueprint: semantic blocks per planner section plus explicit design intent. Label sections so the **k2f** skill can map them later.

**Sub-steps**

1. **Trip frame** — Destination(s), dates, duration, travelers, purpose, budget (total or daily), currency, pace, accommodation base(s), must-sees. Note routing (linear, loop, hub-and-spoke) and transit or jet-lag recovery days.

2. **Input audit** — List confirmed bookings, dietary or accessibility needs, interests to weight, and gaps. Mark `NEEDS USER INPUT` for unknown flight times, hotel address, or ticket status; do not invent opening hours, prices, or visa rules—use `verify before travel` stubs.

3. **Section architecture (include / cut / merge)** — Default stack (reorder when the frame demands):
   - **Trip at a glance** (dates, party, budget headline, base neighborhoods) → **Essentials** (documents, emergency, money, connectivity, key transport) → **Day-by-day itinerary** → **Budget summary** → **Packing checklist** → **Culture & safety** (compact) → **Pre-trip countdown**.
   - **Cut** long destination essays, duplicate restaurant lists, generic packing unrelated to climate/activities, and hour-by-hour filler when pace is relaxed.
```
