# k2f-lesson-plan

Turns teacher notes or a topic into a lesson packet: timed plan, student handouts, observation grid. Handy when the class is tomorrow.

## What it does

The skill writes a `content_and_design.md` blueprint first, then builds a `.K2F` document from it and exports the deliverables. The blueprint covers the standard being targeted, the timed phase list, which artifacts ship, and a shared registry for anything that must stay identical across pages — vocabulary, context, exit ticket.

Work happens in two steps. Step one routes the request: subject, grade band, duration, at most two clarifying questions, the rest defaulted. Then comes the standards anchor, a three-sentence lesson-at-a-glance, the phase list, and the artifact map. Step two hands off to the base `k2f` skill, which keeps the agent on meaning — phases, tasks, look-fors — while the engine compiles layout, typography and theme. Install the core skill before building anything: `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`.

Know the edges. Grading rubrics, quiz-only requests, and reworking an existing plan without re-architecting the content are all out of scope. Publisher curriculum text never gets reproduced verbatim; it can shape scope and structure only. And if the activities do not fit the block, the fix is a narrower objective or a dropped phase, not less thinking time for students.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-lesson-plan -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/k2f-lesson-plan/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/k2f-lesson-plan/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-lesson-plan -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/k2f-lesson-plan/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-lesson-plan -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/k2f-lesson-plan/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install suzheng/k2f k2f-lesson-plan
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/k2f-lesson-plan/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-lesson-plan -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/suzheng/k2f --path skills/education/k2f-lesson-plan
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/k2f-lesson-plan/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-lesson-plan -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/suzheng/k2f/tree/HEAD/skills/education/k2f-lesson-plan/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a timed lesson plan for a specific class
- anchor a lesson to a standard with a measurable exit ticket
- produce student handouts separate from the teacher plan
- draft an observation grid with look-fors tied to the objective
- keep plan, handouts and observation notes consistent in one packet

## Example prompts
- Build a 45-minute algebra lesson plan on quadratic equations for grade 8
- Make a mini-lesson for grade 6 biology with handouts and an observation grid
- I'm teaching a history lesson tomorrow — draft the plan from my notes

description: Build classroom-ready lesson plans with standards-aligned arcs, student-facing materials, and observation look-fors from teacher notes or topic prompts. Use when the user asks for a lesson plan, daily plan, mini-lesson, unit slice, or says they are teaching a specific grade, subject, or topic tomorrow. Create lesson plans with AI-native design and the highest aesthetic standards, powered by the K2F format and engine. Purpose-built for AI agents, K2F lets them focus on semantic content and design intent while automatically handling layout, typography, and formatting complexity.

# K2F Lesson Plan — AI-Native Aesthetic Design

## Purpose

Teach agents to blueprint a teachable lesson *before* layout: anchored standards, a timed instructional arc, concrete student tasks, and synchronized teacher/student/observation artifacts—without generic filler, curriculum plagiarism, or documents that drift apart.

## Built on K2F

This skill produces lesson packages as `.K2F` documents. Follow the **k2f** skill for authoring: unpack or init a workspace, edit the semantic tree, run pack/verify, then export. K2F keeps agents on *meaning* (phases, tasks, look-fors)—not pixel coordinates—while the engine compiles layout, typography, and theme.

Before you build, install the core skill: `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`.

## When to Use

- A teacher needs a new lesson (math, ELA, science, social studies, or adjacent K–12/higher-ed seminar formats).
- The user wants a plan plus handouts, source excerpts, or an observation grid in one coherent packet.
- Not for grading rubrics, quiz-only requests, or differentiating an *existing* plan without re-architecting content.

## Workflow

### Step 1. Generate the content_and_design.md

One blueprint for **what** gets taught and **how** it should read and scan. Structure it so shared elements are named once and referenced everywhere the k2f skill will later map to pages.

**Sub-steps**

1. **Route & clarify** — Infer subject, grade band, duration, and curriculum context from the prompt. Ask at most two high-leverage questions (e.g., standard to target, class constraints); default the rest. If subject pedagogy diverges (phenomenon-led science vs. inquiry social studies vs. problem-based math vs. text-centric ELA), note which arc applies.
