# k2f-fillable-pdf

A skill that gets the agent to plan a fillable PDF form before layout: field inventory, section order, show/hide rules. Useful when you need an application or intake packet, not a static PDF with boxes drawn on it.

## What it does

The skill teaches an agent to write `content_and_design.md` — a blueprint that keeps what readers see separate from what they type. It starts with the completion scenario: who fills the form, alone or with attachments, which sections are required. Then come the static layer (title, version, short how-to steps, privacy notice) and the field inventory: stable id, label, control kind, required flag, format hint, options for choice fields.

Next is information architecture — identify, details, choices, authorization — with 5–9 fields per section, label-and-input pairs for short items and full width for multiline answers. Conditional blocks such as showing an employer block only when employment is yes are written as explicit rules. A separate design-intent block covers tone, hierarchy, density, accent color and WCAG AA contrast.

The form itself is built elsewhere. This skill sits on the K2F engine: the agent edits the semantic tree while the engine compiles layout, typography and interactive fields. So install the base skill first: `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`. Without it there is nothing to run the pack and export step on. Policy and consent wording is taken only from your own sources — the skill will not invent legal clauses, so have that text ready.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-fillable-pdf -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/k2f-fillable-pdf/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/k2f-fillable-pdf/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-fillable-pdf -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/k2f-fillable-pdf/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-fillable-pdf -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/k2f-fillable-pdf/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install suzheng/k2f k2f-fillable-pdf
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/k2f-fillable-pdf/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-fillable-pdf -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/suzheng/k2f --path skills/expert/k2f-fillable-pdf
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/k2f-fillable-pdf/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-fillable-pdf -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/suzheng/k2f/tree/HEAD/skills/expert/k2f-fillable-pdf/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- draft an application form with a complete field inventory and control types
- split a long form into sections that survive scanning
- spell out conditional blocks that appear only for a given answer
- clean up a cluttered legacy paper form before rebuilding it
- break one form into several while keeping exact legal wording

## Example prompts
- build a fillable PDF application form: field inventory, sections, conditional blocks
- I need an onboarding intake packet with checkboxes and a signature at the end
- restructure this old registration form — drop duplicate questions and split it into sections

# K2F Fillable Pdf — AI-Native Aesthetic Design

## Purpose

Teach agents to author `content_and_design.md` for forms people actually complete: explicit static copy, a complete field inventory with types and constraints, logical section flow, and aesthetic intent tuned for scanning and typing—not a generic questionnaire dump or a static PDF with boxes pasted on.

## Built on K2F

This skill produces fillable documents as `.K2F` packages. Follow the **k2f** skill for authoring: unpack or init a workspace, edit the semantic tree, run pack/verify, then export. K2F keeps agents on *meaning* (labels, field roles, instructions, grouping)—not pixel coordinates—while the engine compiles layout, typography, and interactive fields into consistent output.

Before you build, install the core skill: `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`.

## When to Use

- New application, registration, intake, onboarding, or compliance forms from requirements or an existing paper PDF.
- Restructuring a cluttered legacy form before rebuild.
- Splitting one long form into scannable sections while preserving exact legal or policy wording supplied by the user.

## Workflow

### Step 1. Generate the content_and_design.md

One blueprint merging **what readers see** (static) and **what they enter** (interactive), plus **design intent** the engine can interpret. Use labeled blocks; map pages later in k2f.

**Sub-steps**

1. **Completion scenario** — Who fills it (applicant, staff, patient), alone or with attachments, estimated time, submission path, and required vs optional sections. Drop fields that do not change an outcome.
