## What it does

This skill turns KPI data, CRM exports, spreadsheets, and stakeholder notes into a structured business report. It first drafts `content_and_design.md`, covering the audience, reporting period, central question, evidence boundaries, section plan, severity rules, and visual direction. Facts, interpretations, and proposed actions stay separate.

With the `k2f` skill, it then creates and verifies a `.K2F` package before exporting to PDF, DOCX, PPTX, or another suitable format. The report can include an executive summary, KPI comparisons, trend views, ranked weak areas, and recommendations tied to success metrics. Missing inputs are marked `NEEDS USER INPUT` instead of being filled with invented figures. Install `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f` first; without the core skill, this workflow cannot build the K2F report.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-business-report -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/k2f-business-report/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/k2f-business-report/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-business-report -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/k2f-business-report/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-business-report -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/k2f-business-report/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install suzheng/k2f k2f-business-report
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/k2f-business-report/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-business-report -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/suzheng/k2f --path skills/business/k2f-business-report
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/k2f-business-report/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-business-report -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/suzheng/k2f/tree/HEAD/skills/business/k2f-business-report/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn KPI data into a period report
- rank weak areas by severity and impact
- connect recommendations to specific findings
- prepare trend analysis for PDF or DOCX export

## Example prompts
- Create a leadership report from `sales.csv` and the stakeholder notes.
- Review the KPI data, separate facts from interpretation, and mark missing inputs as `NEEDS USER INPUT`.
- Draft `content_and_design.md`, build the `.K2F` package, and export the report to PDF.

# K2F Business Report — AI-Native Aesthetic Design

## Purpose

Teach agents to blueprint business reports before layout: a decision-oriented story from evidence to action, honest about data gaps, and hierarchy that lets executives grasp performance in minutes—not generic prose or chart dumps without interpretation.

## Built on K2F

This skill produces business reports as `.K2F` packages. Follow the **k2f** skill for authoring: unpack or init a workspace, edit the semantic tree, run pack/verify, then export. K2F keeps agents on *meaning* (section roles, metrics, recommendations)—not pixel coordinates—while the engine compiles layout, typography, and theme into consistent output across PDF, DOCX, PPTX, and other formats.

Before you build, install the core skill: `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`.

## When to Use

- Weekly, monthly, or quarterly performance reviews from spreadsheets, CRM exports, or pasted metrics.
- Diagnostic reports that name weak areas, severity, and improvement strategies from user-supplied data.
- Board- or leadership-ready summaries where trends, risks, and next steps must align with one narrative thread.

## Workflow

### Step 1. Generate the content_and_design.md

Single blueprint for semantic content and aesthetic intent. Use labeled blocks the **k2f** skill can map to sections and visuals later.

**Sub-steps**

1. **Report charter** — Audience (exec, ops, board), period covered, primary question (“Are we on track?” “Where are we leaking?”), and cadence (weekly pulse vs deep quarterly). List data sources the user actually provided; mark gaps instead of inventing figures.

2. **Clarify scope (when inputs are thin)** — Which metrics matter, comparison baseline (prior period, target, budget), and whether the reader needs full detail or highlights-only. Do not expand scope beyond the charter.

3. **Information architecture** — Default spine (adapt or shorten for weekly pulses):
   - **Cover / title block**: report name, period, prepared for, date.
   - **Executive summary**: headline verdict, 3–5 bullet takeaways, top risk and opportunity—numbers only where user data supports them.
```
